Elaine If you had bid on my Action men Auction, you would have won. As it has just ended roughly the same time as the one you were bidding on. no bids again. And at least you would have won something. Have just relisted, but reduced the price.

I have looked at the Collins book 'tracing your family history' many times in book shops and decided that I just couldn't justify spending £20.00. Saw one on E bay last week, made a bid and won it for 99p. A real bargain even if the postage was £3.50!!! Jenny

Well, I'm hooked ;-( I have sworn blind for years now that I would NEVER get involved with ebay. Maintenance man came at dinner time to sort out my hot water .and we got talking about ebay ...... he explained the ins and outs to me and explained what to look out for in the seller etc, so I only went on intending to SELL a pair of 100year old paintings I have !!!!!! Apart from bidding on the Irish Parish Records ... I also bid on What happened the Day you were born ... and I WON IT !!!!!!!!! (mind you, only me wanted it !!) lol. I THINK I've just paid using Paypal ..... so hopefully I'll be getting it in a few days ???? 2 hours left on the Irish Records ....... watch THAT space or THIS one !!!!!!!!! Genealogy ....I thought I was past the point of no return ..... now I KNOW I am !!! Elaine ;-)

Debbie it is funny how you can put something on no luck in selling it then relist it and away it goes. Happend with me only the other week put something on for 99p no sale relisted it at 1p and it went for over £2 it was only a set of plans that we had no use for. All the more for my teddy bear fund. Debbie Try reducing your starting price right down and then put it on for 7 or 10 days - that can work if it doesn't sell first time round :O)

Debbie Report 22 Nov 2005 19:35

Anne I have never been sure how that maximum bid works. Now I knowknow. I have just started selling on there. In two weeks I have sold 5 items, no one seems to want my rubbish now. Thanks for the tips.

Germaine Report 22 Nov 2005 19:32

I always try to wait till the last minute to put my final bid. Usually win if not it goes for more than I had wished to pay anyway. Hope you get it. Germaine x

McAnne's Gahan-Crazy Report 22 Nov 2005 19:28

Debbie I do try that but it's so frustrating to lose cos the site wont refresh quick enough lol I just bang on my max bid and wait lol

Debbie

Debbie Report 22 Nov 2005 19:25

My other half always waits till the last 30 seconds sometimes down to 20 seconds. It is so nerve racking. but he always wins. All depends on how fast the page loads. I have seen what you are looking at and will watch later on. Good luck. Debbie

Elaine To help win the item - decide what your maximum price is and enter that as your higher/highest bid - the system then automatically bids for you by the required amount each time someone else beats you ........... ie. if you bid a max of £10 and the item is at £4.20 and someone bids upto £4.50 - the system will increase your bid to £4.70 say - and continue doing so upto your maximum if others bid :O) Alot of people give up if they keep trying and getting outbid.

Cheers for the advice ! I'm glad someone else is as cunning as me !! It finishes at 10.18pm (I think !) ... and I thought I would wait till the very end and then put a bid on ;-) but I've now put in 3 bids !!!!!!! Talk about addictive ....no wonder folks get into trouble with it ! I just hope that the people bidding against me are members of Genes ... and use the Irish Parish Records to help others ! ...... I've bid £8.50, and I'm leaving it now ...see who carries on bidding. lol ...... how do I pay ???????? !!!!!!!!!!!! lets hope I work it out BEFORE I end up with the item !.at the very last minute. Elaine ;-)
