I finish up any cleaning/washing needed during the day. Then I make sure the kids have had baths and have one myself. I always buy new pyjamas to wear. After that I relax with a good book (or tv programme/film if there's one on) a glass of wine and some chocolate. Bliss.

Will be at work until about 1pm. When I get home (hubby having done the last minute shoppping) will prepare all the veg, tidy the house, get a takeaway for dinner. Then sit down and have a drink while watching something on the tele or playing some good old fashioned board games. Then another drink or two before going to bed about 11 or 12ish and reading a book.

Since my in-laws are Spanish, they celebrate Christmas Eve rather than Christmas Day. We get over there about 4ish, have a few drinks and then sit down to a sumptious meal (F-I-L is a chef) with about 3 different meats, fresh salad and prawns, loads of cheeses and tons of sweets. The tradition is to open pressies at midnight, but the children never last that long. We usually leave about 1am, drive home (usually me!!) and carry the kids up to bed. We would have already left out Santa's mince pie and carrots for the reindeer, so we 'dispose' of them, and them have a few drinks on our own and watch a late film. We usually get to bed about 3 and get woken up at 6. Hey ho!! But we love it!! Suzy

Rosalind in Madeira

Rosalind in Madeira Report 22 Nov 2005 21:18

This year barring any last minute hitches, we will be in Madeira. So it will be a Carol concert at 5pm, possibly midnight mass at 10pm if we do both I would hope we go and have a meal in between. Not much drinking, although will depend on who is driving. Ros

When I lived in the UK my daughter and I would always go to the panto and then meet up with mine and hubbys parents, plus other members of the family back at our house, have food, drink and put the world to rights (well, hubby and b.i.l). maybe open 1 pressie for my little pest before she went to bed. Now living in spain, snuggle up,watch tv and get ready for every man and his dog to join us for a champagne get together on xmas day!!! Annie xx

hubby, daughter and I relax until about 7:00 p.m. then put together 'wife saver' breakfast, put it in the fridge until morning, shower, snuggle into my new warm PJ's then watch 'The Grinch' then it's 'A Christmas Carol' of course the original (black & white) with Allistar Sims. Put pressies under tree, fill stockings then off to bed. Deb

Food preparation. Then I take the boys out to walk round the village near us to see all the Christmas lights and we end up near a river where the ducks look magical and ghostly in the dark. Get home and put them to bed and then stay up watching tv and doing their stockings. But this year, my mum is coming to spend Xmas with us so it may be very different. nell
