Hubby drinks Port, and after I have bought all his presents he suddenly says ''I hope someone has bought me some port for Christmas. I don't have any left'' To which I replied - I'm not buying anything else lol Guess I'll have to go out and get him one....

I've always hated sherry. Don't like the taste and one glass makes me go as red as a beetroot. The thought of sherry trifle makes me heave, as I hate sherry and custard. Port's another matter. We love drinking port with stilton after a meal. I'll drink port and lemon if I'm at someone's house where the only alternatives are beer, scotch or gin with orange squash (Yuk!). I make port jelly as a dessert occasionally, and at Christmastime I make cranberry sauce with orange and port for the turkey. When my MiL died some years ago, we bought several bottles of different sherries, thinking her elderly friends would drink them at the wake. Only two were opened, and only a couple of glasses drunk, so we gave away the others and eventually had to pour the remainder of the opened bottles away. >*|*<

Mix port with WKD Blue. Yum yum! Taste's like Vimto, with a little twist

Off to the golf club this very morning. Our subsciptions include £50 to be spent over the bar - which goes nearly un-spent in my case. The balance goes on exactly what you say - sherry and port, which keeps me going for a long while. cheers and happy days

Hi I like both at Xmas but Port is probably the one I prefer. Never have them during the year normally but have on occasions had a tipple next door with my elderly neighbours and bought the odd bottle in a supermarket special offer. Otherwise tend to keep them sacred to Xmas. Don't know why.

M & S have got a very tasty new wine, Chocolate Ruby. The chap giving the free tasters last saturday said it went well with cheese. I thought I had better make sure he was right so I bought a bottle! Jane

I like a glass of very dry sherry as an aperitif and my mum will join me this Christmas! In the evening husband and mum will have port with stilton, I like a glass of port on its own as an after-dinner drink, or to accompany a hot mince pie! nell

Joy The only cure for a cough must be rum (proper rum, not that dreadful Bacardi) and blackcurrant, I used to swear by that Or my Dad (if he was still with us) would say whisky and ginger wine Dee xx

Thank you, Dee! No one else had noticed me. I had been invisible. I was getting paranoid. I used to drink rum and black! I must buy some tomorrow. Thank you. Phew...... I am here after all [if you'd not noticed me, I'd have retreated -as I often do - to the Land of Yips ] :-) Joy
