I would wait and not try anything till you have had a word with your insurance company or try talking to trading standards - the window cleaner should have insurance so ask him about that - go on be bold, if you can't look him in the eye, stand on his toes!! I can understand you being upset and I would too, and certainly wouldn't let him get away with it. Good luck. |

All very well to say stop worrying and claim on insurance Bob but I don't want to have to pay £250 excess for the claim and lose 10 years no claims discount on the buildings insurance - so I'd rather try all these possible remedies first. |

Try metal polish. The stuff on wadding - Duraglit is especially good at getting scratches out of watch glass. It could work on windows. Any metal polish is good for getting scratches out of plastic baths too - just thought I'd throw that in! Hope you get it sorted. Mags xx |

Just another thought could you claim for it on buildings insurance? Give them a ring and explain -you may get a professional sent to sort it for you. Good luck Diane :) |

Thanks Jess and Diane, Anything's worth getting to try - but don't think the deep ones will be hidden with anything. Still if I can get rid of lots of small ones it might not look so bad. You can't have owt new and nice for two minutes can you. Em |

Scratches are about half and half. Some you can feel the goudge (sp) out of the glass but others you can see but not feel. There's about 25 different areas in total across the doors and the windows either side of the doors. |

Thanks so much all you guys - been and had a cry - 'cos I'm a big softy and don't like been shouted out. This guys about 6 1/2 foot so was towering over me. Phoned a couple of glazing companies and have been told that if there really shallow scratches they should polish out but anything you can feel with your finger nail won't come out - will need new glass. Haven't been out yet to feel them but will let you know. Think I'll need half a dozen tubes of toothpaste to try your trick Paul but I'll try it on a couple first and see what happens - fingers crossed. Chrissie - thank you so much for doing that - so very kind of you!! And thank your handsome young fella for me too ;-) Thanks for the support Steedie - he's still on the estate now if you want to bomb up the road and help me knee cap him - nice cuppa tea and a biccie after!! Thanks all, Em xx |
