Hi, I have turned into my 50s and also a grumpy old woman. If you can choose your shopping day, Monday afternoon is usually quiet but the best is having Tesco deliver it, order it on line at your leisure and have a nice helpful person bring it to your door. (Tried to get my dad to order his through my computer but he was having none of it!!) Chris |

I used to take over 70's shopping on a Saturday in the Access Bus because they lived too far away from a supermarket(Morrisons 5 MILES AWAY and no buses). That was the only time they could go because the Access bue was booked. We found that the worst culprits for carrying on were the kids who would run round the store and bump into the OAP'S. I am in my late 50's. The worst culprits for me is our own age group because they stand in the aisles chatting for ages but if you ask them to move especially when I pushed a wheelchair with my OAP in they would give dirty looks, My answer to the looks was ''Wait til you get to this ladies age'' One of my ladies was in her late 90's. Chris, It is as you say. I was not being rude or intolerant, just telling it as it is. My wife and I often talk about this. We hope to be able to retire in the next five years or so, and we have avowed that we will only go shopping on the quietest of days, and never on a Saturday morning, provided of course that the shelves are full and there is fresh produce out there. Whether we will or not remains to be seen....! It is scary, since we are turned 50 and we both have started doing the grumpy old man / woman thingy....! |

Me and mine had a ding dong about shopping trolleys. He has no patience whatsoever. Wish I could leave him at home, but I can't drive. Granny |

Not saying that, but perhaps an eensy weensy bit of tolerance on their part wouldn't go amiss. Just checked with 'grumpy old woman' 53 year old wife and she says that the over 70's behaviour this morning in our local Morrisons was exemplory. We had mil with us and she did not put a foot wrong. |

Over 70's not allowed to buy fresh produce when they wish Peter? I'm not over 70 either, but I certainly wouldn't like to dictate where and when folk should do their shopping!! I spent a good hour in our local Morrisons this morning and everyone was in a lovely festive mood. Merry Christmas everyone Mau xx |

Ann, You have no idea how tolerant I am, it is just that at 55 there is only 15 more years to go so might as well start to make the most of it. It was actually my wife who made the comment about the over 70's not shopping on a Saturday morning, and come, on you know as well as we do, that most of then have all week to do it when the shops are quiet. We both have mothers in their 80's so speak from first hand experience when they get to that age they become increasingly oblivious to the rest of the world. My mum often chooses to shop in the afternoon and then complains that there are too many school kids on the bus when she is coming home. We did suggest that this is 'their hour' and perhaps she should steer clear, but she thinks otherwise. |

Been there myself this morning and it was horrendous! no fights broke out amonst the 70s but a few flustered looking people queueing at the mile long checkouts. Asda was busy, but the checkouts seemed a lot less hassle than Morrisons. Marie |

Very busy but got there and back in about 90 mins instead of an hour. No problems with the over 70's today but then it is still only Friday. |
