as usual we visited mum in law last night and was approached by the ward sister. mum in law has definately got to have a pace maker fitted!. they are still monitoring her heart and pulse via a portable monitor. by this i mean, she has all the usual wires attached to her,but instead of a machine by the side of her bed she has a small gadget on her side which is connected somehow to the sisters desk so they can see her heart and pulse rate 24hrs a day. the wonders of technology eh? terry has been told to phone the hospital at 3pm today after the top doc has been round. they will then let him know when mum will be having the operation. i would like to thank you all for your lovely replies, they mean so much. love susie and terry

Hope they sort your mil out soon, tons of people around with a pacemaker, and what a wonderful new lease of life they say they have. Thinking of you all.

Susie What a grotty start to the New Year and what a horrible fright you have all had! Glad to hear that they are going to sort your mother-in-law out (in the nicest possible way!) and I hope all goes well. It is great that you have such a good relationship with your mum-in-law. Mine was a treasure, too! nell

Susie I attended a coronary exercise class, for people with every heart problem imaginable, and the ones who had ops had regained levels of fitness they hadn't had for years. So try to look at it as a positive move, as the pace maker will help. Best wishes to MIL and you all XX

Susie As you know, I'm secretary of a cardiac rehabilitation group centred on Wycombe. We have about 500 people on our register and most have had ops and most are fitter than they have been for years through attending excercise classes at Handy Cross Leisure Centre. A member of our committee has a pace-maker and he's very spry. The only problem that we have with him is that he likes lots of holidays abroad. Len
