Just found out today my mum has been diagnosed with myeloma. She has been suffering from osteoporosis for a while and went to the doctors about pains in the tops of her legs. We went to the hospital today for the results of blood tests she had last week and she ended up having to have loads of x-rays and also had to have bone marrow taken which was very unpleasant. We have to go back next Tuesday for the results but they are 95% sure it is myeloma. It hasn't sunk it yet but I'm sure it will soon. Does anyone have any experience of anyone with myeloma as the hospital haven't raelly told us much.

Hugs coming your way and for your mum. I know nothing about myeloma but on googling the first thing you see is...it is treatable....XX BC

Hi BC. We were told today it's not cureable (sp?) but it is treatable which I guess means it will never go away but can be controlled with medication. I just don't want to see my mum suffer.

Eagles Sorry I don't know what you mum has got but do know how worrying mums can be. Over the past 4 years I have watched my mum go from the active mum I know to one that has trouble walking and holding things. Mum has a disease that isn't very common and isn't curable they just try to manage it. Stay strong for her, the way I cope is make a joke of most things which usually makes her smile. Hope you mum feels better soon.

I would suggest Googling it, but our GP isn't that keen on that sort of thing, as he says it can, and does, cause unnecessary worry. x

Wish my mum luck please folks. We're off to the hospital today to find out for sure if she has myelome and if so what they are going to do about it. I'm a nervous wreck - cant eat, sleep or think straight at the moment. Hopefully after we get a definite diagnosis and know what we are dealing with I'll feel a bit better.
