my name? Just wondering because people usually get it wrong and pronounce it (loo-see-a) rather than how it is supposed to be pronounced (loo-chi-a). lol :-)

Actually I say my name can only pronounced two ways. It's Latin and Italian so either (loo-chi-a) or (loo-key-a). People sometimes get my surname wrong too! lol I don't like that either. :-)

As in La Boheme. Lovely name, just rolls of the tongue. The sort of name one needs to keep saying, just to savour it. Len

Rachel

Rachel Report 7 Jan 2006 22:32

I would use both pronouncations, but I would also ask whick one you use. We have enought trouble in my family getting our names said correctly and spelt correctly so I tend to ask. One family friend always says Rachel as Rat-ch-ell but by far the worst is my brothers name ( Owain, it should be said as O-wine but most people say ir as O-wayne) and it is so annoying even one of my grandfather never got it right.

I've always pronounced your name Looch-ee-ya, as an Italian would. I think it's a delightful name. It means 'light', I believe. CB >|<
