Hi I drive an imported car and am insured with a company called GROUPAMA, cant recommend them enough, my husband was driving my car last Oct, when a car hit him from behind, he was stationary at the time. It took just 10days for Groupama to pay out, and that was after I turned down their initial offer, and they went away and looked at it again, got back to me and it was all sorted out. kes

Used to be with A Plan but Frizzells gave us a cheaper quote and have continued to be competitive. Ann Glos

I had Norwich Union Direct quoote me happpy - they came in at about £80 cheaper than Diamond who I was with and they do a 14-month insurance thing for the same as 12 Downside is that I now have to renew my insurance straight after Christmas instead of October but there you go I was gutted cos they started running the Sheila's Wheels ads just after I renewed and I REALLY want to be with them Z x

Hubby asked me the same question!! Perhaps I'll try a quote without him to see how much he has cost!! Just tried it - extra £20 !

Sheila's wheels did not bump it up for me putting hubby on - and I chose a low excess. With them you get handbag cover - £300 if your bag gets nicked and you also get a rather fetching tax disc holder free! lol

mine's due next week so I'm currently trawling all the sites too. confused*com really annoyed me, asking for info like when my hubby passed his driving test... (more than 30 years ago, is that relevant?) my cheapest quote looked like More Than, but when I amended the voluntary excess to what's on my renewal notice (Frizells) the quote was more than I currently pay. Comparing like-for-like, with same excess & protected no claims etc, probably Direct Line (unfortunately! because I've heard some rubbish things about settlement values if you have a write-off) Sheila's wheels about the same - do they bump it up for putting hubby on?

Had a lot of trouble trying to get my 17 yr old insured, we had horrendous quotes, some refused to quote but finally got a good quote from Asda (eight hundred and something) Chris

In 2004 I got over 35 online car insurance quotes and ended up staying with Direct Line. The insurance companies for women drivers came out as the most expensive. One company called Fortis came out pretty cheap but they insurance through brokers. Maureen

IWe go through a local company called A Plan. They find us the cheapest and best deals, had no problems at all. They recheck every year to see if there is a better deal for us. With the RAC separately for over 30 years and they are excellent on the few occasions we have had to call them out.

At the moment I am with Norwich Union who arent too bad I suppose and I pay about 330 pound a year fully comp, but thats paying on monthly installments which does work out a bit dearer, and thats for a seven seater Seat Alhambra, but I have recently been told for my kind of vehicle that Tesco are a lot cheaper, so will probably give them a try next time around.
