The most unusual surname I have is probably my own maiden name, GRIMMETT De Jong is one of the most common surnames in the Netherlands and means 'the young' (The J is pronounced as a Y) Paul - Grimmelijkhuizen would be pronounced as GRIM - LICK - HOW - ZUN and means something like gloomy houses

Tocqueville's too common in France (there's 200 of them in the french phone book) so I guess my most unusual has to be Horsup (originating in Suffolk)

Paul, De Jong is a common surname in South Africa. The only Hackart's on the site are all in my tree and the strange ones are common ones to me, if that makes any sense. Lindy;-))))

Paul, I've come across a De Jong in my ancestry. I'm working from memory here because it isn't in my GR tree and I'm at work but I think it was a Susan De Jong marrying a guy whose surname was Stoaling (this is a rare surname). I don't know how common De Jong is as a surname in Netherlands, so this may be of no interest to you. If it is then let me know and I'll look it up when I get home. Andy.
