Cheeky Paul .... PMSL I honestly don't know what you think can be done for this poor, distressed , wild animal. It is not a dog or cat which can be rescued. The pilots on the Thames have been doing their best to try and guide the whale away from the banks and have been trying to turn it. This animal is 20 ft, long and weighs 2 tonnes. I do hope it can find its way back to the sea but I don't think it is very likely. Jean x. |

If they wait until it does beach itself it ought to be relatively easy to put it in a sling and Helicopter it back to deep sea. On the other hand, should we interfere with Nature at all? Dr Doolittle, you talk to it and stop making the rest of us feel guilty! |

Could be an old whale, and the flock of gulls circling it are waiting for it to die. D |

I heard an expert on CNN earlier saying that there have been some unusual activity concerning whales within the past few weeks. They think it might have something to do with the earths magnetic field!! |

Paul, There will not be a readily available source of food for a whale in or near the River Thames. It's fresh water and does not support the kind of sea creatures whales eat. I'm certain there will be marine life experts at London Zoo, not too far away, who will be able to advise, but the River Thames is quite busy with boats, barges, canoes, etc, and you can't easily stop all those vessels in order to reach a large, disorientated creature. Rest assured, someone will be doing what's appropriate - as far as they possibly can. If you've ever seen the Oxford v Cambridge boat race, you will have seen the sort of location where the whale is now. CB >|< |

Paul it's said that there maybe a connection with the find in Southend which is very distressed and calling out, why does no one take a recording get it to the Thames and see if they can get a response it may help and Southends not that far |

And I find that the lack of a spokes person tell the genral public about the status of the animal, and their plans quite disturbing! |
