Seems to me that its nothing to do with fitness. I can (hands almost flat on floor) so can my 82 year old mum! Jamie age 8 can, but Charlotte age 9 can't! Can you????? Maz. XX

the question should be - do you have to bend your knees... yes I can still (just about) but funnily enough its getting harder to cut my toenails LOL I think it depends on the relative lengths of your arms and legs, though once you get to a certain age the suppleness of your joints is a factor too.

Mandy you weren't sposed to mention that on this thread !! I agree - I think its people with long arms who can do it - looking at my kids bears this out! I've def got long arms and long fingers, which helps. Maz. XX

I can. It depends on the flexibility of your hamstrings. Or for those who eat jaffa cakes, the size of their stomach. lol!!! Rebs x

I can still do it but only as far as my fingers touching toes. I remember years ago a Doctor asked me to do it & when I had he said thats ok you won't get Arthritis I couldn't believe that a Medical Doctor believing what is surely a old tale. Pat x

I've always been able to put my palms flat on the floor without bending my knees. I can even do it now that my waist is nearly double the size it was in my 20s. I've got long arms, but I've also got long legs, so it's further to reach to the floor. I was always told it's to do with the length and flexibility of hamstrings. CB >|<
