noticed a few comments about the renewal price on other threads, so checked my own which is due 19.2.06. i am being charged £10.95. so mailed them and got the reply that they are trying different prices, and so if charged more than £7.50, let them know and they'll refund the difference. i mailed again stating that unless my fee is changed back to £7.50 on my homepage, i will not renew. i don't see why they should take more money, for me to tell them its wrong , for them to refund it back again, when i'm saving the hassle for them now by telling them its already wrong !!!! but had another reply and they're still sticking with it............. am i being unreasonable? Hi Jane No - I think you're being very reasonable. I think the 7.50 is very cheap and would be happy to pay a bit more but I want to know what I'm paying when I do rather than blithering about checking how much they've charged and getting an amount refunded. It's very unprofessional and I'm sure unethical.

Thanks guys, Lindy, you are lucky if it keeps changing, mine hasn't altered once, but make sure you grab it quick at £7.50, hope it doesn't disappear before your eyes!! David, my thoughts exactly, you can't just keep changing the price as you please, 1 price should fit all !!

I must admit i had no problems ...just renewd on the 27th and paid £7.50. I think what they are doing to you is way out of order. Val

For pity's sake, they must know how much they want to charge for membership. Is this 'trying different prices' legal? You wouldn't go into a supermarket and find them 'trying out' different prices. Keep emailing them and let them know that even if the prices aren't offputting, the sheer lack of professionalism is. If this is a sign of things to come now that ITV have it, ther may be quite a few people who do not want to renew.

Mine is up for renewal soon, Jane, so I just checked....£7.50...... BC

Everyones had this recently, I had it show up as £7.50, then a week later it was £9.95 and in another week it was £11.95, then after so mant people complained it suddley dropped to £7.50 again. Sit tight and keep watch, as soon as the fee drops, renew - don't wait longer than you have to.

Hi, I look after trees for two friends on here, neither of them paid up members. Just had a look at how much it would cost them - both £9.50. Amazing! I paid £7.50 in November I think, and that was a renewal. By the way, their pages are blue but mine are green!!!

Hi Theresa, I've been to Dublin, Galway and Roscommon but not Cork!! You make a good point. I've told my friends my help is limited to arranging their trees and dealing with email queries and they can pay for further contacts if they want! Neither of them are related to me so they're not on my tree and I have enough trouble with my own ancestors!!! So far neither of them is sufficiently desperate to join, unlike the rest of us.

Jean, on the top left hand side of the page, its says your name, then full member until............ when it gets to 4weeks ( i think), it will say renew now, click that link & you'll get your price. shall we just have a competition now and see who can guess Jeans price???

Jane

Jane Report 31 Jan 2006 18:54

Well...... me putting my foot down, with a firm hand worked..... had mail back from them saying they would pass on my comments to the management so then checked my price again........... it was reduced to £7.50 !!!! you've never seen me move so fast to get my debit card out before it changed back again, lol thanks for all your opinions too, it did help me argue the case.
