You should come to Cleethorpes whan they have the annual scooter rally weekend. Thousands of them turn up with their sleeping bags rolled up on the backs of their scooters. It really is a sight worth seeing. Dont know how they manage with so many mirrors sticking out of them. GLoria

mod to start off with as you had a lot of diferent fashions to go at. then met a rocker fell for him and been a rocker/goth ever since. the rocker came and went but i kept the look, still get a buzz when i see a leather jacket and motor bike. never passed my bike test but would still love one. broooooommmmmmmmmmmmm, broooooooooooooooommmm! tina x

Definitely a Rocker - so was hubby. When we decided to get married we didn't have two halfpennies to rub together so he sold his beloved bike! It must have been love - and we're still a daft pair - our kids say we're the oldest bikers in town!

I was definitely a MOD but they morphed into HIPPIES so I was one of them after (fashion-wise only though - too scared to get into the drug thing etc!) CB - you sound like me! Kathy McGowan look was defo the best look, though my hair was fair, and it is only now I can get the straightness with my electric hair straighteners - 35 years too late! Twiggy was my role model as well. But my boyfirend at the time thought I looked like Marriane Faithful! Allie

Definitely a Rocker! Skin tight jeans and winkle picker shoes. Used to sit in a bath of water with new jeans on to shrink them to fit! Long blonde hair flying out from under my helmet - never could get the knots out! We used to gather at Hals Caff in Morden and ride to Boxhill, racing round the 'Mickies' - the Mickleham bends on the A24.. The bikers still gather at the (much posher now) caff at the bottom of Boxhill. Lost a few friends in those days in bike accidents, but have lots of happy memories. Like riding to Brighton because someone fancied some chips or a paddle in the sea, sleeping on the beach under the pier. Why did it never rain then? It was never cold either! I was a Mod ,we used to go to Brighton to listen to The Who before they became famous they played all night at The Aquarium on the sea front, good times good music and terrific fashions. where did the years go lol. wendy

LOL Dee! My mother used to call me names anyway - I didn't need a bell! I had some drop ear-rings with tiny bells on them, but I could only wear them with my hair up, otherwise they got tangled up in it! Did you have arms full of bangles and lots of bead necklaces? I was very embarrassed once when the string on my beads broke while I was standing on the bus, and the whole lot went all over the floor in the morning rush hour. I got off at the next stop and waited for the next bus. LOL CB >|< X

That's right, Dee. I left school in 1967, went abroad on hols for two weeks and came back to find London awash with people in kaftans, sandals, flowers in their hair and bells round their necks. It seemed that everywhere you went in the West End, you'd get the orange-robed Hare Krishna people chanting at you and chiming their bells. (Yes, I did say 'bells'.) I had to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe, but it was July and the sales were on, so it didn't hurt too much! LOL CB >|<

I wanted to be a Mod but mum wouldn't let me. Did get a ride on a scooter once though, through Greenwich Park. Can't remember if there was a tiger tail on the back or not! Wasn't all this early sixties? By the time I left school during The Summer of Love, I believe the Mods and Rockers era was nigh on over, so I decided to be a dollybird - Twiggy was my idol. LOL. She's the same age as me I think. As for Cathy McGowan, I remember getting her autograph when she came out of the Ready Steady Go studios one Friday night. Lovely long dark straight hair. Dee x

Carol, I can only remember going to the Lyceum once - and don't recall much about it. I used to see it every Saturday, When I was at school, my Saturday morning job was in The Strand. Our school outfitters were in East Dulwich - Wolfe & Scott. My Dad used to play bowls in Dulwich too. The Griffin (or Gryphon) Sports Club. Can't remember how they spelt it. He was a Sainsbury's employee in his latter years, and that was their sports ground. CB >|<

Do you remember going to The Lyceum at The Strand, when I left school myfirst job was at Ludgate Circus we used to get a bus to the strand and go to The Lyceum in our lunch break.
