I put the same thread up on Friday, like you say a real waste of time. Think we should all send him an e-mail telling him to get lost. Carol

JackyJ1593 Report 18 Feb 2006 09:01

This is the reply I had from someone when I wrote to them asking why they had so many of my names listed. I wrote again this week when more appeared and asked if any of the people 'they' list, are actually related to them. I haven't heard back. But why put so many on your tree if nothing to do with you?? Jacky :-) 'Thank you for you interest in the names I have on Gens. I have listed a DEATH index for West Australia. Being a death index it does not show. 1)Parents 2)Who they married 3)Where they were born 4)If the Surname is their Married or Maiden Name 5)Children During the next months I will be visiting the Cemeteries in Perth taking photos. If the person listed is part of your family I can try and take a photo for you. Please keeping mind that not all people have graves and not all graves have head stones and some grave sites have been redeveloped. While searching for my Extended Family lots of people have help me from all over the world with it. One person has sent a photos of my sons 5th great grand-parents grave. This is one way of me returning the help. One person as send 30 years trying to find a family member and they were surprised to find them buried in West Australia I have a list of 200 names requiring checking to see if they have head stones so far. I hope this explains why your family member is listed. If you require further info please email me again'

Is this the same guy who keeps sending messages saying he is photographing headstones of graves in Australia, in cemetries which are about to be redeveloped? He comes from Australia, and is asking if anyone would like pictures of the headstones if he can find the relevant one's. He had three names of my ancestors, and has already sent me three messages!!! He says it's his hobby???????? Is he just a fruit????? Lin XX

Whilst I'm sure SOMEONE finds this useful, I just wish he'd set up his own website and do it from there ... it is of no help at all to b%$**er up our Hot Matches (for what they're worth anyway) and generally get underfoot. It is a worthwhile exercise if he's really capturing info from shortly-to-be-redeveloped graveyards - a good 'posterity' thing - but please, please, display the results in a co-ordinated way on a separate website. Well I've just checked my surname, which is a very unusual Italian one......32 on the site and more than half of them mine......and yes there he is again ! I have messaged him and very nicely asked him could I see his tree, because I'm very interested in his connection to the family. It will be interesting to see if he has the courtesy to answer me. On one of my Irish families, out of 46 new entries he has 20 ! A Coventry one , out of 81 new entries he has 36 ! Another Coventry one , out of 10 new entries, he has 8 ! and so on etc, etc. As he couldn't possibly have a genuine tree from the WA death indexes......wouldn't that be misrepresentation of what GR is all about ? Just imagine the boost to GR's numbers though ! Kaye.

I wonder what his ''tree'' looks like -- how does he relate them all?? BTW, for this last lot he has corrected his spelling of Australia.

This subject has come up before. The member concerned , Chris, has loaded several thousands of names which he has extracted from the Australian Deaths register. He said he was doing us all a favour by publishing the list on this site. It is not a 'tree' as such and he does not claim to be connected to any of us. However, GR have already ruled on this one and as there is no obvious contravention of the T's and C's no further action is likely on their part..
