Nice one Zoe, Joy, ignore her, let her think what she likes, if she brings the subject up say 'yes ok', then talk about something else. You have all the details, it is her loss and not worth getting stressed over. you wont win because that is how she is so don't try. Ann Glos

Exactly what I have. OH's Cousin just can't get her head off this flipping Irish thing and has called me some rather nasty names cos she thinks she's right. Joy

Zoe Report 8 Feb 2006 12:11

Joy I'm with you. In 1891 William is with father Henry in same area of Leicester. Only thing would put me off is he's a general labourer and not in shoes - but then who's to say he wasnt a labourer at a shoe factory. And Williams older sister is working in shoes anyway. Z

And that's the Marriage. Have had virtual screaming matches with OH's Cousin insisting I cannot be right. But she has not got any Certificates or other stuff to prove her point. Insists I have the wron William Farren born 1904 in Leicester. Joy

Joy *The Carlos Cutie of Ilson* Report 8 Feb 2006 12:06

Yep that's them. They go on to have a son William in 1904. I have his Birth Certificate. OH's Cousin is insisting that William (born c1879) is not her Great-Grandfather as she has always been told he was born in Ireland. I have William's (1904) Marriage Certificate and Death Certifcate as well and the details match up on Marriage Certificate. Joy

Zoe Report 8 Feb 2006 12:05

and I'd go wit this being the marriage: Cousins, Eva 1900 June Marriages Leicester (1837-1974) Leicestershire Farren, William 1900 June Marriages Leicester (1837-1974) Leicestershire and this being Eva in 1891: Cowins, Eva abt 1882 Belgrave, Leicestershire, England Daughter Belgrave Leicestershire esp. as her father Henry is a shoe finisher too

Zoe You could try looking for a William Farren married to an Eva living in Leicester in the 1901 Census and working as a Shoe Laster. If you can find any more than the one I've got then I'd be amazed. Joy
