McAnne's Gahan-Crazy | Report | 8 Feb 2006 19:30 |

Went back to the dentist weekend before last - had a root canal done late last year and was getting really bad sensitivity again and tenderness. He ground down the composite filling slightly saying it was making me bite more on that tooth than the others - said no way should I be getting sensitivity because the nerve and root had gone (errr yeah I know that - but .... ) Anyway - I don't know if it's the root canal tooth or the other molar next to it (just the two) but .......... hot drinks - cold drinks - hot food - cold food - chewing - ALL give me the most excrutiating pain that goes right through my jaw bone!!!!! It is so bad at times it nearly has me on the floor - and boy does it linger before it dies away. ............. THROBBING like fury - no amount of pain killers !!!!!!!!!!! So it's either the other molar needing root canal - in which case it will have to go cos I can't afford another one OR I reckon I might have an infection in the jaw from the other one!!! Either way - i'm suffering and I ain't happy about it :O((((( |

Anne Is there a chemist open near you or maybe a superstore. If so go and get Oil of cloves and dab on the tooth it will take the pain away. I sympathise with you nothing worse than earache or toothache. Hope this helps you Love Maisie |

Gray - yes I do realise that ........... but that tooth is extremely tender when he does the 'tapping on the tooth' test - the other one behind is fine if it's tapped, but yes I know it's a possibility that tooth is decaying again!!! Either way - it's bad news for me and my pocket - one of them will have to go this time !!!!! Maisie - thanks for the tip xx Ade - ta :O)) xx |

Oh Anne I do sympathise! I too remember the excruciating pain I had with an abcess last year. Sounds like you need antibiotics. It's possible the infected tooth pulp was not all removed and infection has started up again, perhaps in the bone. See your dentist ASAP. Dee x |

Anne - I hope you feel better soon, I know how bad tooth pain can be - I remember the pain from one of my wisdom teeth before I had it removed. I think I would be nagging the dentist to do any work free of charge - sounds like it's something they've done or missed, so they should put it right for free. Good luck with it. Kaye x |
