In October my oldest best mate (who lives along way away at the moment) had some of my CRUK badges to sell on to help raise money for my trek fund, we have been losing touch for a while so i was really chuffed when she wanted to help me with the trek. She then got a charity night up and running for me in Manchester, which some of you may remember turned into a nightmare. I have been trying to get her to send me the money for the badges so i can pay them into the fund, and to return the goblets she asked for to collect money for me...she works in a band.....after countless ignored emails she finally sent the stuff today, along with a really offensive letter accusing me of threatening her with legal proceeding and adding after all the work she did for me in Manchester (!!!) i should be more gratefull......i am gobsmacked! There were a few other nasty comments and i saw red, so i have sent her an email telling her just how hurt i am about it all, and how mad i am with her for her attitude. I don't know if i did the right thing or not, but the sad truth is she is no longer a good friend to have, and i need to move on. Trouble is we have been mates for 24 years, and shared so much that i feel really bad now. Me and my temper! ....trouble is i can't get over her attitude that the charity money should have been forgotten.......i couldn't do that, people donate and buy CRUK things in good faith, it would have been like theft to have let her keep it. Sorry moan over now :-( Yvette |

:-( Poor Yvette. When you are feeling poorly you get upset more easily as you are more vulnerable. But I think its as well to say how you feel - you can't go on pretending to be best mates when you are feeling angry about the way she has behaved. Thinking of you and hope you are soon feeling better both physically and emotionally. Love Nell |

Yvette It's so hard when friends let you down but after the horror stories you've told me I'd say you're better off without her and well done for being so tenacious. Daisy |

oh dear :( Sadly, I think we've all had friends like that at one time or another, and you were absolutely right to insist on getting the money that she'd raised |

Better get to the front of the queue Paul - the best rooms normally go first. You might even end up with an upgrade :-)))) |
