I think Freds comments depend on what the job is, if you took on a qualified typist, for a probabtionary period of 6 months and their typing wasnt up to scratch ( or the standard that you required) then at their performance meeting 6 months on, they would be out of a job ( as unfair as that seems) I have no idea how old Ria is, or what the job is/was so its hard to say, But i would have siad that unless she was taken on as a trainee then she wouldnt expect traing to do the job she was appointed to do. sorry Ria, i am talking about you, without knowing the circumstances. How are you feling today? what matters is if your are a heap ( as i would be) then you need to remember this THEY ARE NOT WORTH IT!! |

Hi Jess, well, coping, just about, but i'm in teacher training, halfway through 1st year. Prob is, I was coping to the best of my ability with no company resources, observations, no company training, every meeting planned with coordinater for training or even just a chat cancelled cos she had no time, the list is endless. So, struggling, yes, but not rubbish as was made out. Everyone was having similar probs. And not being qualified, i should, we should in fact have been given even the minimum of support. |

I dont think anyone could cope with a job if there is constant bullying and it says something that other people have also walked out... Bev |

Ria - honestly, were you coping with the job? You message suggests that you were, but you said yourself, ''just about'' |

I doubt mine would be that outcome bev, they could use the fact i was at the end of my probationary period. Jess, I elected my rep. She was i felt, the only person I could trust. |

did you elect the person to come in with you, or did they ? it sounds as though you did have a contract - at least a verbal one. you knew you were on 6 months trial ...how long were you there? |

Just for the record....my brother was working for a company and was going on holiday! Somebody overheard him telling a mate that if he could get a job while abroad then he would stay! This was immediately reported to his boss who then proceeded to 'bully' my brother to the extent that he felt he had no choice but to resign! He went to Acas which deal in unfair dismissals etc and they then took the case up! Rather than appear at a tribunal the company offered my brother a pay off but he refused as he didnt think they should get away with it! Not only did my brother have the satisfaction of seeing his boss in the tribunal he also got a lovely cheque as compensation! You have nothing to lose by going through with this and if it all fails at least you have the satisfaction of this company knowing that you have not just walked out without putting up a fight! Bev |

yep, went to docs on Tuesday morning because i knew my Bp had gone up again. Bp probs started just b4 xmas, never had prob with it b4, there was a very stressfull situation going on at work of which i had no idea what i was doing, i asked for help but was given none. Was too scared to take time off and was not allowed to take holiday until after this thing had finished. Went without any time off from august to december apart from 1 day when my medication made me feel too odd to go out. |

That still shouldnt matter as if it goes to court she can still be summoned to appear! And as Diana has said they have already broken the law as you should still have had a contract whether it be temporary or not! You are in your rights to take them to a tribunal! Have you been to the doctors regarding your blood pressure? If so get a letter from them as well to prove how you were feeling at that time! Bev x |

By law your union rep has to support you if you decide to go to a tribunal! It doesnt matter if you resigned as you only did that as a result of your treatment! Please just go to your citizens advice bureau. Also try and get hold of the other people who also left your place of work...the more of you there are then the stronger the case!! Bev x |
