Parsnips -hated em as a kid.love em now done as parsnip rosti.or just baked . Just remembered my all time hate altho I never even tasted them, Jellied Eels. There used to be a fishmongers in Woolwich Market where they had these ,LIVE,in a tank in the window. The fishmonger would select an EEL from the tank. all wriggly!! & put it up on the marble shelf above to tank & proceed to chop it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!.his apron was all covered in blood. I used to huury past the window but couldnt resit a quick look if he was doing chopping. I,ve NEVER been able to put a piece of EEl in my mouth to taste it since

Spring onions! Grandad had a bumper crop one year and dared the mass of grandchildren visiting the house to eat more of them than anyone else - needless to say being gormless kids it ended up with about a dozen kids all feeling very poorly. Grandad loved it - didn't stop laughing for weeks despite Nana regularly beating him around the head with a newspaper as she was the one who had to look after us all and send us home to our parents with the simple words 'It's your dad's fault' which surprisingly no-one challenged or asked for more of an explanation! Funnily, decades later I love onion - especially with grated cheese in a lovely fresh barmcake!

I really did not like cheese - cheddar (only if it was in a quiche or something) - I eat it now but only to nibble - hate huge chunks of it and don't like cheese sandwiches!
