Thanks for all your replies. Luke is now home, came through the door looking very miserable, he didn't even look at the other sofa where Murphy was and couldn't understand why we were all grinning like idiots. Nearly collapsed when he saw Murphy, and is delighted, just as Murphy was delighted to see Luke. Murphy has just finished having some roast beef and is now being hand fed ham by Aimee. Think he will be making the most of this - and why not! Best wishes Carol xxx

I'm so glad you found him. My son's dog Bran went missing one evening. It took 10 seconds, and we never found him. He was a beautiful black collie. My husband was with him!! And spent the rest of the evening out looking for him.... until about 1.00 am. Son was at uni at the time and heart broken when he heard. Deanna X

UPDATE: 15.46 PM. Murphy the missing geriatric dog is home!!!!!!!!!! Finally got through to the RSPCA this morning and they told me they had a dog matching his description in the hospital. After taking further details they told me that it definitely sounded like him and that they thought he had been in an RTA as he was having trouble with his back legs. They asked me to go and identify him, which of course I did, running out of work!! Briefly, it IS him, he cried like a baby when he saw us. They said that now they thought he hadn't been in an RTA but that it was due to his age that his bones weren't as supple as they used to be and had probably stiffened up. They let me take him home with medicine for his bones and want to see him next week. He cried all the way home in the car, until we got near to our house and then was silent. He is now propped up on the sofa, with cushions all around him, and my daughter, Aimee, stroking him non-stop - it makes a lovely sight I can tell you. Best bit is, youngest son, Luke, who is 10, went miserably to school today as I told him to expect the worst, as it had been almost 4 days that Murphy was missing. His dad has gone to collect him and hasn't told him yet that Murphy has been found. I can't wait to see his face when he sees him!!! Sincere thanks to everyone who gave me kind words and encouragement - sometimes there is a happy ending! Thank you all. Carol.

Hi, thanks for all your good wishes. No news so far (I'm hoping no news is good news). Rang the dogs home again before, but they haven't had any new arrivals today and suggest I ring back tomorrow at 4 o'clock, that seems so far away. Just spoke again to local animal sanctuary, but they haven't had any reports of injured animals or animals being found. She is going to ring me if a dog of his description is found. I have a poster on my garden wall and husband is encouraging all the local children to have a look, hoping the promise of a reward will get them into action. Once again, thanks for your thoughts and wishes, I will keep you all updated. Best wishes, Carol. x
