Come on Penny, you know how great it is to be married to a handy man. You have the extra money to spend on something else. Don't you?? ;-0) Deanna X

Like what Deanna? Things last for ever in our house. We still have hubby's mum's nursing chair which she used when hubby was a baby. It's still in our living room & it's 50 years old!! Perhaps the washing machine will last that long! Penny

You see Penny, I think that's wonderful. I do realise that you must be desperate to buy something new sometimes, but don't you think he is clever? Deanna X

Tell him it is costing more to fix it than buying a new one and it is not an energy saving one so using more electric

Deanna

Deanna Report 18 Mar 2006 17:25

Well, that is indeed a good point Val. There you. The help you were asking for. Put it too him nicely. Deanna X

It has only cost £36 to mend it both times in total as he does it himself!! I mailnly only use delicate wash so it takes less than an hour - so it is quite energy efficient :-(

Val

Val Report 18 Mar 2006 17:31

But put it to him this way a new washing machine takes less time and uses less electric and saves drying time also as the clothes will be even dryer when they come out If it was me I would go in to a shop and say wow look at how much electric you would save and say that is a lot better than my one and think of saving on our electric bill

We recently got a new telly. It replaced the one we got in 1985. Our washing machine packed up last year. Other half checked to see if he could fix it. He's electronics engineer. It was a sealed unit thank goodness. It was 14. Previous to that we had a second hand one for eight years. Our house was carpeted throughout when we moved here in 1988. We couldn't afford anything too grand so got a really cheap foam back. So far we have only replaced the bathroom, living room and hall.

Just give him a subtle hint, go look at washing machines and extol all the new gadgets to him. eg 'Look this one spins at 3 different revolutions' etc. Granny
