What's with the 16 thing - it appears to be acceptable these days to bring a child into this world when your parents are still collecting family allowance for you !

yes I think that law should be amended.. I was just thinking I could go out tomorrow and get married without needing parental consent, and have babies yet I can't do all those other things. hmm.. :-)

Did you lot know that: the age of consent in Madagascar is 21 but in Mexico and Philippines it's just 12 Marriageable age in Iran: 15 for males, 13 for females, but China (PRC): 22 for males, 20 for females. Age of majority is always between 18 and 21. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_limit

You might as well say what if they were both thieves - of course they'd both be punished. The law is law. We have the a lot of murders. Should we legalise it? It's the message we're sending out. It's wrong.

Mags

Mags Report 23 Mar 2006 22:47

Are you for real???? You can legislate until you are blue in the face or as grey as your wig but you will never stop teenage pregnancies based on law alone. It's against the law to have intercourse with a minor - not to get pregnant. Since often both parties concerned are minors what would you do then??? Of course you could legislate that everyone would be required by law to have contraceptive implants on reaching puberty but often there would be those that won't need it wouldn't there? ;0)) Mags x
