Congrats to all the mothers for whom this is a great day. My thoughts are given out to all those ladies for whom this is not a joyous occasion , where life and circumstances have combined to make the day, not what they at one time hoped it would be. No need to bare your soul - just that at least one person is thinking of you. Happy days

Hi Harry, I'd like to give a special mention to Bendy Wendy, who will be spending Mother's Day apart from her little son, George, apart from a brief visit. She's in hospital, being treated for pneumonia and dehydration after a week of illness. Thinking of her and George today. CB >|<

Thank you Harry. What a very kind thought. I come into that category ie: there's nothing to celebrate anymore. And may I just say how I love your 'Happy days' when you sign off. Jill xx

What a thoughtful thread, and a lovely idea, Harry. I received a beautiful, big card this morning from our two fantastic teenagers, together with a gorgeous little necklace. The main reason I'm adding to this thread is that I nearly didn't become a mother, as that other mother, Mother Nature, had other ideas for me - adoption. I'm so thankful we have two smashing (most of the time!!) and healthy children, and my thoughts are certainly with those less fortunate, through no fault of their own. x

I'll never be one and in truth never really had one, so this really is a thoughtful thread!! xx

Hi Harry, Really sweet thought, and I would just like to add, Many thanks to those who do not have their children to celebrate with today, but brought joy to many others. Sheila

Bless your little cottons Harry, this is what these boards should be about, love not war. You're bringing springtime to us! How are your pelargoniums??? In Sussex the weather's still a mite chilly, How's things in your neck of the woods? Cherry

Thanks for the replies. My old boss used to say 'there,s nothing wrong with the world - it,s the people that,s in it'... Good thinking but not quite true. Happy days

I agree with all the sentiments on this thread. I have friends who through varying circumstances do not have their own children but define the word MOTHER perfectly. The way they mother other people's children and their nurturing nature makes them 'mothers' in my eyes and I think they should be recognised and applauded too. I know how blessed I am to have 2 beautiful children but don't believe that I have exclusive right to the title 'mother' over my childless friends. I really hope you understand what I'm trying to say! Joanne

Thanks Harry for bringing this up again. I mentioned this on one of the other threads but it really needed a thread of it's own. :-)
