Just did a stupid thing and i now regert it, As you know i have a disability that has limited my hobbies, I used to do alot of artwork and had a portfolio of my old stuff in the loft. My daughter wanted the portfolio case,i took out my sketches and paintings, and gota bit angry with myself and ripped a lot of them up,i now regert it,lucky a couple survived but i was so stupid, and i hate feeling sorry for myself,i have to remind myself that part of my life has finishes, the next is beginning, But oh that rubbish bag of ripped paintings,i am so so stupid |

I have been stupid in the past over destroying paintings. No longer.I have portfolios all over the place and would not part with any of them.As you grow older and not up to what you used to do its very important to retain the memories associated with your hobby. Rupert. |

Gwen could you scan them onto a photo programme and 'touch' them up. I know it wouldn't be anything as good as the real thing, but you could still look at them and they would't take up much space. Clairex |

Gwen - you're not stupid or feeling sorry for yourself. You're frustrated that you can't do them anymore. It's a horrible feeling. I empathise with you for what it's worth. |

Gwen we all do things like that. I've done it TWICE. I am now not able to do the things I really love, and have been 'thinking' of chucking stuff away. It is a silly thing to do, because we all relax after a while and regret it. You are not stupid... you are just hurt at the moment. Deanna X |

Decided to get one of the remaining ones framed and perhaps it will remind me next time to think first, the oddest thing is when i painted it i didnt like it,but for the last couple of hours i've been looking at it, it wasn't my usual style but todays type of picture it fits in well, an im going to give it a title 'think'before act. and would anyone like a load of embroidery threads before they get binned |

Gwen.... ME TOO. I have already got rid of knitting wool , patterns and needles. I toook them up to the unit, and left them for anyone who wanted them. They didn't last long. I have a box full of silks and aida, which I have been thinking of sorting out and discarding. See what I mean. You are not alone. I just feel that someone could use them instead of them lying in a box in my house. deanna X |

Gwen, I understand how you feel, I did the same thing some years ago now. Carried many of my school paintings around throughout my married life, then one day just up and binned them. Fortunately, I am still able to paint and in particular enjoy doing portraits of my grandchildren. Lately though, I have neither the time nor space in my home to continue to enjoy my painting, as due to unfortunate circumstances, part of my family have returned to live with me, and I am now very cramped as it were. Hence the reason I love to come on here, as it affords me a little niche of my home to operate in. I confess, I do get resentful at times and wonder if its just me being selfish?? Sometimes I get so down I feel like crying, so if you ever feel that down again, (which I sincerely hope does not happen), I will be happy to share the load. I'd better hush up now, can feel myself welling up. boo~hoo......... Hope this doesn't kill your thread.....................??? Not my intention truly. Lin |

Likewise Gwen, Know you certainly didn't mean to upset anyone, and I don't want you to feel badly, nor any worse than you do. I know these things are only temporary glitches in the scheme of things, and none of us should feel like this...........not today of all days, especially as I had such a lovely day at my youngest sons yesterday.........perhaps its just the anti climax??? Anyway Gwen, hope you feel you can enjoy the rest of Mothers day, I'm going to try.................Huggys to you too. Lin |
