I wont go into details because I could write a novel about my rellies! My family were gypsies, On my grandmothers side English and on my grandfathers side Romanian. I have found looking for details of my grandfather particularly hard as his family travelled extensivley with the circus' and fairs. His parents were born in Romania, yet he was born in Brazil, one of his sisters was born in Canada, The other in the US and finally his brother was born in France! I knew that there was relations in the US who got left there when my g grandparents came back to Europe. So for the past 5 years I have been searching for them in the hope that they may be able to tell me more about the family. The problem I had was that the original surname had been changed to sound more English and I was not sure what the exact name was. Anyway last week I took an good guess at the name and I knew that hopefully they would be in California. I searched for addresses and wrote to the 3 eldest men with that suname. This morning (At 3AM) I got a telephone call from one of them. It turns out that he knows who my g grandfather is. He was the brother of this mans g grandfather. So I think that makes us 2nd cousins? He has told me loads about the family already. Dread to think what my phone bill will be like over the next few weeks! Pat |

I remember parts of your postings as you searched for these people. Well done. Wasn't someone talking about a better rate for overseas calls, fairly recently on these boards? |

Pat, That is fantastic for you, I know how hard they have made it for you to find them. Mind you, after such a struggle to find the connection, it must be 10 times more exciting than it is for me to track down yet another ag-lab. Congratulations! Carole |
