The strange dear that BC is, insists on correcting my perfectly sane notion that tea is between 5 and 6, and dinner is earlier in the day at middayish. Apparently tea is a figment of my imagination; lunch is what it should be. Who's right? |

Historically, ''dinner'' is the big meal of the day........posh people had that in the evenings....LATE, they had breakfast late too and lunch was a small meal (luncheon!) Working people began their day much earlier and went to bed earlier too......they would eat their main meal in the middle of the day when it was light and to sustain them through the working day. I would say dinner if I was going out for a meal in the evening, but otherwise I say Lunch for noon time and Tea for the evening meal. If I was having people over for an evening meal I would call it dinner! Confused?? Merry |
