Hello Dan! I have to say despite my above average GCSE results (10 x A* -C) and okish A-level marks I have NEVER got a job based on my qualifications. I got one job (Internship for BT Marketing) in the first 5 minutes of the interview for my personality. Sooooo.... stick around me long enough and some of it may rub off on you! lol You'll be great at whatever you do! xxxx |

I am glad you're not quitting Daniel, My dad took me out of school and sent me to work just before I was due to take my O levels. Since then I have managed to learn to do any work which was put in front of me from Labouring to Bookkeeping to Company Management. The only difference I noticed was that the bludgers with the pieces of paper, who were often less able than me, got the higher salaries while I was stuck at the bottom end of the scale. |

We all get the moody blues Daniel - so finish college - get the best results you can and look on the positive side - you have a book published - lots of articles printed - how many 18yr olds have that undder their belt? I would have thought you would have been heading for a career in journalism. Remember Big cities can be lonely places and everywhere is nice when you are on holiday. My husband always had this idea when he retired we would up sticks - I made one stipulation - find somewhere - we will rent there for 12 mths or even just the winter months - still like it after a winter we will move. We are still here.Talk and think over everything very carefully with thos e who know you best. Ann |

Rather than see the three months at college as preventing you from doing something, use the time to prepare for whatever it is you intend doing, the time will soon fly by. I left with about 6 months to go so I know where you're at, and I have regretted it for longer than I dare to remember. Good Luck Ken x |

I didn't want this to come across as a moany post, and I'm not so stupid to quit college at this late stage; 3 months out of two years. I'll let it run its course obviously. Just, after that, I think I'll to do something drastic. Like I said, not a whinging thread, just my trip has been a kick up the backside and college is the only thing preventing me from taking the action I want to take. |

Hello hun, I know what you are talking about, but I also know that you are clever enough to know the difference between a nice holiday and the real world. If you quit college now, you would have to support yourself somehow (can't rely on cook and chauffeur for ever) and that's when the regrets would come. You are surely not going to let a few months of studying defeat you??!! Get it done and you will have so much more choice in life. There are many people on here from all round the world who will be glad to have you to visit - but you need to be able to pay your own way around the globe! Surely there must be a book in this travelling lark somewhere???!! Wish I could see those kittens, put a pic on please. Maz. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |

Oh Daniel, it sounds like BC really did spoil you .... you are suffering from that awfull after holiday depression babe. Ilove the idea of the Daniel Longman Relay.... pmsl ! I bet he could also do one of those programs where they tootle around the country with only a fiver a day ..... and manage to survive , lol. Daniel.... back to the books my love, it will soon be over, and you will be sooooo glad you did it afterwards. One of my boys took a year out.... then went to college to do his A levels. The other one stayed onto sixth form to do Alevels. Neither enjoyed it.... they wanted to play out too much. BUT they did it.... then onto Uni.... then onto decent jobs . [ though am still trying to work out how the one who was supposed to be an Accountant is now a manager of a betting shop !!!] Sue xxx |

Sorry you are feeling fed up, Daniel , but the advice you have been given here is good. As Sandra says, finish school and go travelling. I am sure there are enough kind GR members dotted all over, who would love your company (for a day or two)! when you need a break. Lovely, big world out there. My dog misses you:-) XXX BC |
