American superstar Gene Pitney has died at a Cardiff hotel, it has emerged. The 65-year-old American singer - found international fame with the Bacharach song Twenty Four Hours From Tulsa - was taken ill at the Hilton hotel just after 1000 BST on Wednesday. He was mid-way through a UK tour and had shown no signs of illness. (From BBC website) |

Loved the one he did with MArc Almond. How odd, I was looking at an advert for his forthcoming tour in this week's Mail on Sunday and thought how good he looked on the picture. |

Sad news. Saw him in concert 3 times in the 1970's and 1980's and he was brilliant. Maureen |

It is very sad, let's hope he didn't suffer at all, but how sad to die alone. He will be missed by many people as his voice was very haunting. All the good ones are going too early. Sue |

yes very sad Julie a similar thing happened to us, My son has waited for years to see some of the real WWF wrestling stars and we had tickets to go see Yoko Suna. One of my sons fave wrestler and just before we were due to go he died of a massive heart attack in his hotel room. Mind you he was so over weight it is no wonder. |
