Well done Harry! I also saw a quote from him saying he would expect and want to go where his unit went and was fully prepared for front line action. I think he will and should go with his unit and we should be proud of him. Claire xx (not particularly a Royalist but credit where it is due)

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 13 Apr 2006 03:01

Harry has often been quoted as saying if he trains for this he will expect to be sent whereever his fellow soldiers are sent including Iraq and I think he will insist on it. I bet his Mum is so proud of both her boys - they act like normal young men of our time, just as she wanted them to and I think they are ok, both Harry and William too. Have to say I still see a huge resemblance to a certain Army officer when I look at Harry - will we ever know for sure? I know JH denies he knew Diana until Harry was a toddler but ...

Haven't seen Harry yet but I'm sure it will be all over the American news tonight so I'll get to see him then. I have friends over here that love the Royal family and are off to London later this year to visit Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge and all the rest. How many visitors do you think England would get without the Royal family, not exactly sunshine central is it!! They bring a lot of money into the country but even without that I think it is wonderful to have a Queen/King and think they do a wonderful job for their country!!! I now live in America but am very proud to call myself British and plan on staying British.

Well done to him. It makes me feel good. We hear this 'hangers on' expression too much about royalty - lets give credit where it is due, instead of this damned if he does and damned if he doesn,t. People are very much entitled to disagree, and will do so, but my opinion is that we have something good going for us in royalty. Happy days

Fair play to the lad for joining the Army. However, my attitude is that when this Country declares war we deserve to be led by our Leaders. There has been enough of The Powers That Be sitting in Bunkers in England and sending the Common People to be cannon fodder. I bet that we would not be at war with Iraq if Bush and Blair had to be in the Front Ranks.

Kelly

Kelly Report 12 Apr 2006 14:14

Well done Harry you have done well. Im sorry to whoever mentioned harry going to iraq but i disagree. They will not allow the 3rd in line to the throne to fight in the war, if they do they will be taking a hugh risk. What if he is captured? then they really will have a bargining tool , but no government gives in to terrorism remember, so what do you do? get him out or let him die? If they went for the getting out option that wouldnt be fair in my book as we all know and its the same everywhere that we dont let these pigs win, but somehow i cant see the queen and his father saying oh well we dont give into terrorism we will just wait for news on when hes dead. My husband is in the army and has done his tour in iraq i knew full well that if he was captured that i would never have seen him again but i knew all this before i married him and i also understand that we dont give in to terrorism no matter what the circumstances. So its a case of whether the the Queen and his father and the government are willing to allow this and somehow i dont think they are, i do believe he should be given a fair shot but i also understand that if he went you can bet your bottom dollor they will try every which way they can to get their hands on him and that puts unneccesary pressure and worry on our country. Sorry for the ramble Kelly

Porkie_Pie Report 12 Apr 2006 13:06

Claire, me too, and if his regiment are sent to iraq then he will go and their will be no special treatment for him, he will have to go and do what every soldier out the has got to do without question. The army may still have a class system, (officers and other ranks) he will be treated the same as any officer their. Roy

if Harry sat on his laurels and did nothing people would slag him off. Instead of which he has joined the Army and yet he is still being slagged off. Poor chap can't win. I'm proud of him and I sure his mum would have been too. Claire
