I disagree Gwynne sorry!! Yes he's a mess but there are plenty of screwed up kids that will think he's found the way out and copy him!! They will think that he has been given chance after chance and hasn't taken it so he must have it right!!

Fred, I care about what happens to him. My working life is spent with teenagers, most of them are fine but some of them are ill and unhappy. I care what happens to any human in distress. Gwynne

I care about what happens to him too..... that's why I am saying he needs to be dealt with PROPERLY and given help that will help HIM as an individual!!

Fred, The young people I work with do not view Pete as a role model. They all feel sorry for him as many people do. Nothing he has said or done would induce any of them to take drugs. Those young people that do take drugs or abuse alcohol do so because of events in their own lives. You don't know what has happened in his life to make him the unhappy, desperate young man he has become. With many people drugs are a symptom not the cause of illness. The tabloids only tell a fraction of the story. They care nothing for Pete, the 'worse' he gets the more papers they will sell. Gwynne

Fred, It genuinely upsets me that you can be so judgemental about someone you know nothing about other than what you have read in the papers. Have you made no mistakes in your life? Has your life been perfect? Are you such a paragon of virtue that you are in a position to pass judgement on complete strangers? Gwynne

I think he needs help but he has to want that help before he can succeed in being drug free.

Fred likes to use flowery language to illustrate his point, but I agree with his basic sentiment. He cannot keep breaking the law. He has had help and consideration from the courts, now he should get it in prison (if proven guilty). Happy days

My problem is the 'the Dochety person ' as you refer to him is a desperately unhappy human being, not a waste of oxygen. So your sweeping 'it is obvious to all' doesn't apply to me. Making you wrong for the second time in your life. My problem is I'm upset by your total lack of compassion and your willingness to judge another human being of whom you know nothing. Drugs are readily available in jail how would it help Pete or society to put him there? Why do we need to be protected from him? Of course I hope he does go to rehab but when people abuse any drug, including alcohol, it is usually a symptom of a deeper cause. Cold turkey would be no solution. Gwynne

Do I know him? No. I agree he's ill but Pink has my vote, lock him up, face cold turkey and other demons. Prisons have excellent re-hab facilities (paid for by us). There's only so much you can blame on others before you MUST take responsibility for your own life choices. My worry is where does he get the drugs from and what else are those people involved in? Fuelling eastern block prostitution? I don't work with troubled teenager but a violent first marriage fuelled by drugs where my dearest husband said he beat me because of his relationship with his mother!

It seems to me that the music industry leads lots of people into drug taking, why do you think that is ? Is it the sudden accumulation of wealth or the celebrity status that they cant handle ? Not only the music industry either ,models, film stars etc seem to have the same problem.

Having read all the remarks about 'Pete Doherty' and the comments made on here about people 'Not Knowing him'and believing all that is written in the Press.I would ask 'Guinevere' Do you actually Know Him?.or just assume you do.Apparently'According to the press' he comes from a very good home and wanted for nothing as a child'but that is just speculation. His Problems are all 'Self Inflicted' he uses and abuses friendships and help offered. Its time he was taken into Protective Custody for his own safety, and no longer allowed to stick two fngers up to Society and the Law, Mainly, its about time he grew up and stopped being such an 'Asshole'as he apparently, is a very good musician. Hal.

People do need help, unquestionable, but it is also the defenceof the scoundrel more often than not. Lots of offenders, even a few of the the despised rapists, cannot control themselves, but you can,t have them roaming the streets. The singer has not committed such a serious crime, but he has had umpteen chances from the courts and has convictions for offensive weapon amongst others. If he, drove a car and knocked somebody down, what question would we be then asking. Drugs in all its echelons are a scourge. Any rehabilitation in this case, should be undertaken in prison - again if he is found guilty. Happy days

Hal, I know a lot more about him than anyone else who has contributed here. How I know I'm not prepared to put on a public notice board. But it wasn't gleaned from newpapers. Gwynne
