My gran made the best scones and pancakes I've ever tasted. Oh and her Clootie Dumpling...... drool, drool... Strange, only got a weight problem once I started eating shop bought stuff.

I think there should be a campaign to bring back all those old fashioned cakes. They were soooooooo much better that all these fancy one bite cakes you get today

I have to add here that my Great Aunt Ivy also made lots of cakes, but her fruit cakes always sunk in the middle, no matter what she did. We always called them Polo cakes. They were still delicious, and more than made up for by her strawberry jam.

My Gran made the best fruit cake EVER. 1/2 pound of everythign and 3 eggs. Mix well, put into lined and greased tin, make a well in the middle and sprinkle demarara sugar on it. Bake for an hour. It could have lasted weeks. How many others have inherited recipes from grandparents that we still use? What are they?
