Hello, I tried the Molly's Pie recipe yesterday, I added Mushroom's and as we can't get oxo where I live, i added some bisto instead..... and also added a can of diced tomatoe's instead on the sliced ones.... Oh. talk about yummy........... Mea.

FLAPJACKS: 6oz (175g) butter 4oz (110g) light muscovado or brown sugar 1 generous tablespoon golden syrup 8oz (225g) porridge oats (Quaker or Scott's preferably) Melt first 3 ingredients together until dark and glossy. Stir in oats and mix well. Put into 8inch square tin, lined with non stick parchment, press down well and smooth surface. Bake at 170 deg C or gas mark 3 for 20-25 mins. Mark into 10 bars whilst still hot, but leave in tin until ABSOLUTELY cold (very important).

My husbands aunt always served this each Sunday we'd visit it's lovely.... Boiled Fruit Cake 1lb SR flour 1/2 lb Mixed fruit 1 cup of cold black tea 1/2 lb Marg 1 tsp mixed spice 8oz Brown sugar 3 eggs Melt marg, add tea, fruit & simmer for 6 mins, cool add flour, spice, sugar & eggs. Mix thoroughly and pop in a lined loaf tin. Bake middle shelf approx 1 hour gas mark 3-4. Enjoy, Jude

STUFFED APPLE DUMPLINGS 8 oz Shortcrust pastry 2-3 oz sugar 6 cooking apples Dried fruit Cut pastry rounds,large enough to cover apples Peel & core apples,place on pastry,fill with sugar & fruit. Damp edges of pastry with cold water & gather round apples,pressing the joins. Put apples on a baking tin,(joins underneath). Brush with water & dust with sugar. Bake in moderately hot oven 425 or gas mark 7,till pastry is golden,lower heat until apples are tender. Delicious

Thanks for the melting moments one. We made them at my middle school but I lost the cookery book that I wrote it down in. I did keep it for several years but it eventually got lost. I loved tasting the warm melting moments, it will be something that I'll have to try and make now with my children. Ta! Claire

Forgot about gypsy tart... My Grandad used to make that. He was a fantasic cook too, he was a widower so he brought the youngest four up on his own.

Auntie Jean's Syrup Loaf (from my great aunt's wartime recipes) 8oz self raising flour ........... a handful of currants 1 teasp bicarbonate of soda ............ 4 tablespoons golden syrup ¼ pint milk ............ pinch of salt Sieve dry ingredients together & add currants. Add syrup and milk and mix thoroughly. Mixture should be thick pouring consistency. Pour into a well greased and floured 2lb loaf tin (bottom lined with greaseproof paper). Bake at Gas 5, 4th runner from top of oven for 40 minutes. Turn out and cool on a wire rack. Slice (and spread with butter!) to serve. ***************************** Nanny's Fruit Scones 12oz self raising flour ................ 3oz margarine 1½ sugar .............. 6oz mixed dried fruit pinch salt ............. about ¼ pint milk to mix milk or beaten egg to glaze Sift flour & salt into a bowl, add margarine & rub in finely. Stir in sugar & dried fruit. Mix to a soft, but not sticky, dough with the milk. Turn onto a floured board & knead lightly. Roll out to an inch thickness and cut into rounds with a 2½ inch cutter. Brush tops with beaten egg or milk and bake on a floured baking sheet towards the top of a hot oven. Gas 8 for 10 - 15 minutes until well risen & golden. ******************************* Grandma's Gypsy Tart small tin of evaporated milk, preferably chilled 8oz soft brown sugar ............... 8inch baked pastry case Beat the evap & sugar together until thick. Pour into pastry case and cook at Gas 2 for 20 minutes or until set. ***************************** Mollie's sausage & potato pie 4oz chopped streaky bacon .............1 large onion, chopped 1lb pork sausages (halved lengthwise) 2 tomatoes, peeled & sliced ............. about 3 or 4oz Oxo stock 1lb cooked mashed potatoes .......... salt & pepper a little melted butter or margarine Grease an ovenproof dish and cover the bottom with the chopped bacon & onion. Put sliced sausages on top, then sliced tomatoes. Pour on the stock and season to taste. Cover with the mashed potato, brush with melted butter and bake at Gas 5 for 25 minutes. ******************************** Sorry to all you folks that use electricity to cook - we've always cooked with gas and imperial measurements! I don't know the conversions :o( Sue xx

Made these with my daughter's class last Wednesday and they were lovely. Easy oat biscuits Makes about 16 biscuits Oven 160 deg. C Cream together 50g caster sugar and 100g soft margarine Gradually mix in 50g plain flour and 100g porridge oats Work together to form a dough Roll out on a floured surface and cut out with biscuit cutters. Put on greased baking trays. Cook until golden, cool on a rack to crisp up as they cool. the kids thought that they were just sweet enough, sort of like a coarse digestive. Louise
