Only child until I was 11, I prefer to be on my own rather than with crowds of folk. I find it quite hard to mix and make friends, tend to hold back. |

I am an only child, and was quite happy to be until I grew up, then I had eldely parents, and no one else felt the same about them as I did, no matter how hard they tried. I have 3 children, now in there 20's and 30's and my heart bursts with pride when I watch them, helping each other with their children and home projects. Jennifer. |

Can't imagine what it would be like to be an only child. I am one of six, OH one of 5. Must admit lots of arguments as we were growing up but great now we are all adults. We have 2 children. Hilary |

I have to say I think the worst time of being a only child would have to be when you loose a parent as who else will be there to remember the same things as you. Louise |

I think I would have hated being a only child, even though me and my sister hated each other when we where young, we are now the best of friends and these are they only friendships that last all your live. I'm now expecting my second as I think it will be good to have another child for my 2 year old to play. My O/H has one child from a previous marriage and she always seems to have no friends and spends lots of time with older people. Louise |

My two are like only children as the eldest was 17 when the youngest arrived and he then moved out a year later. Not beacuse of the baby! Jacky :-) |

The one and only Leonardo da Vinci was one, as was Frank Sinatra. One-child families are on the increase in the UK and the fastest growing family unit in western Europe. |
