Hi Angela Interesting that. There is a bit about what people were told to do in case of an attack in the book I am reading. Anyone wanting an amusing read can find the Nuclear Bunkers in B**locks to Alton Towers, about Uncommonly British Days Out Dee ;-))

When I was a young child in the early 70s I shared my bedroom with my younger sister, and the emergency supplies my dad had stockpiled in case there was a nuclear war!!!!! One wall of our bedroom was lined with cardboard boxes carefully filled with tinned food etc. The top of each tin had been wiped with vaseline to stop it rusting before it was opened. There were also some large tins of white paint and brushes. My dad never told us why we had wall to wall tins of soup, veg, potatoes, stewed meat instead of toyboxes and bookshelves. I could never understand why my friends didn't have the same type of thing in their rooms. Its really surprising I didn't grow up strange or warped. Then again, maybe I did!!!!! Angela
