*Pictures the old tin tub from nan's by the hearth* cricky! just remembered that my parents still used a tin tub when they were teenagers! dad in the kitchen or in his nan's kitchen and mam in her back kitchen (they had 2 kitchens! 1 for food prep and the other had the boiler and fule oven!

A zinc bath is something in which I and my siblings used to be bathed when babies!!!

Hi Daniel, If you want a pitcure of one I have a zinc bath hanging on my outside wall. Up until about 14 years ago it was in use.

Remember it well. Always had to make sure the cold water went in first otherwise it was rather hot on the bottom ( mine and the bath!!!!!!!). Linda

A zinc bath is the type we used to bath in before everyone had bathrooms. Bath night was every friday so we were extra clean for the weekend. It is metal coated with zinc, Like the old wash tubs..... don't suppose you know what they are either, saaaad.

That is what I called it a Bungalow Bath and I know we were still using in it in the 50's my mum got a flat in very 50's which had a bath but not a bathroom She never got a place till very late on with a bathroom. Margaret

A Zinc Bath ??? Also known as a bungalow bath was what was used by the people who needed to bath in,Going back to the 40's most people did not have a bathroom in their house,and a weekly bathday was appointed in the house,the water was heated in a copper as explained by Lemon ? we. used to go up to the market and bring back empty boxes,and the whole family took a bath in front of the fire one after the other,little ones two at a time,no long lingering soak and the soap waseither Sunlight,or Carbolic in a great big block with a little drop of Pine disinfectant added to the water. Well anyway in the end a woman faints and drops her 1 month old baby in the bath where it drowns. In a house only two streets away from where I am typing! The doctors say the mother fainted as she went back to housework too quickly after being ill for a fortnight.

Lemon, you are not that old.......I remember one at my grandmothers and the dolly and scrubbing board and the blue bag..........and the smell of clean.....
