Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney and his wife Heather Mills are to separate after four years of marriage. A statement said the couple had 'found it increasingly difficult to maintain a normal relationship with constant intrusion into our private lives'. Sir Paul and Mills, a former model, married in June 2002. They had a daughter, Beatrice, a year later. They met in 1999 through Mills' work for her charity, launched after losing a leg in a motorbike accident in 1993. Recent reports suggested they had been living at separate addresses. Sir Paul, 63, was said to be living on the family farm in Peasmarsh, East Sussex, while 38-year-old Mills was reportedly at the couple's home in Hove. But Mills last week told one newspaper: 'It's hilarious. Of course we are together. 'Paul and I are still very much together. Paul and I are together 100%.'

Sadly, Paul Mc Cartneys children turned out to be right in the end, 'Her Ladyship' just got too big for her boots :((

It is always sad when marriages fall apart but will Paul regret he did not have a pre-nup. The least she could walk away with apparently is £50m per year - £200 m. Only thing ever bothered me was in the beginning of their courtship - she did not know his music - impossible I would think to live in this country and not recognise some of it. It did not ring true. I thought she was a brave girl who had overcome a handicap but that she was HARD and he was lonely. Ann

I have often told my husband that if he finds himself a widower - I would prefer him to remain single and miserable. Money doess not enter into it - he hasn't any!!!!! Ann

She might not be to blame, he might be a git to live with. There's nothing to say she will take his money yet not all of us do. Julie xxx

If he is a git to live with - it has been kept quiet for a heck of a long time! I would imagine he would look after her well and his little daughter - depends if Lady Heather allows greed to overcome sense. Ann

Not surprised at all. If Linda was his soulmate, as was often said, she was irreplaceable and there was no way Heather could live up to that. I think it is a shame but personally I think he entered into a relationship too soon after Linda's death. Jean x.

Who knows what goes on behind closed doors? My friend's husband some 11 yrs ago - 'fell in love' some 6 months after his wife's death and about 45 yrs of marriage. Some folks could not accept it - I had to keep trying to tell him that whilst his immediate family and some friends were happy for him in one instance - in the other they were trying to cope with grief and their loss. He did marry and is happy and there is a age gap there too - but the difference is the lady is a very mature one and their lifestyle is the same as the previous one. Paul and Linda always opted for the quiet life - perhaps Heather found this not to her liking - her lifestyle before marriage did not appear to be quiet. Ann
