Thanks everyone, and sorry to drag this thread up again. I should have gone to my GP ages ago like I planned, but thought I would try to persevere with them. It has got to the stage now though when I have had enough of feeling so unwell and just wondered if there were others feeling the same. Thank you all for your replies. Will go and see him next wekk for definite. |

Oh dear, sorry Ann and everyone. I deleted the other thread, as someone bumped this one up for me which I had forgotten about. Didn't want to be accused of repeating a thread. So sorry. |

I took statin drugs for nearly a year, I was so tired by tea time I could hardly move plus the joint pains,,My Dr told me to take red rice yeast and drop the statins, I have and Have no side effects and remain lowering my choles, however I am in the US and they are available at the health food store...They did a 10 year study and they proved to be more effective than statins with no known side effects...hope this is helpful...you can google, red rice yeast.. |

I dont take any drugs for mine, doc didnt prescribe any. Suggested walking 30 mins a day. Have to admit I havent done any for a couple of yrs now. Early this year I had high blood pressure, a friend who is a docs nurse (not mine) told me to have 3 des.spoons of oat bran a day. Have been doing so. Blood pressure has been coming down since, probably the bran clears out the cholesterol from the arteries. I have one spoonful in my muesli/porridge in the morning, sprinkle a spoonful on my bread/marge/marmite/lite cottage cheese for lunch and for my desert at dinner I have muesli and oatbran again (with green top milk of course.) Could get a bit boring but when I go to town for the day I break away from the diet. BUT I really do need to get more exercise. Somebody drag me away from the computer! |

Like many others on here ! |

Joanne, my hubby is the same with words, after the stroke he got so many words wrong, we just stuck with those words and still use some of them now. God knows what other people think. He works full time again now, but job can be very stressful and so causes problems, he is forever asking me to remind him of things. M. |

I have been on Simvastatin for 6 months now and feel great with them. I know quite a few people who have been taking them for years and I have never heard them complain of side effects. Love and Peace Marianne.x |

Having seen some pretty nasty side effects from simvastatin (and read the leaflets, checked the web, consulted knowledgeable friends) I would definitely go back to the doctor. One side effect is, to quote the doctor, 'muscles feeling like you've run a marathon' Mercifully, my relative now has 'allergic to statins' plastered all over their records but it took the medics a little time to be brought to realise that statins were the cause. |

Morfydd Dad is the same - somedays he call's me Ann ( his sisters name) other days he calls my daughter my name and will say to me ' Where is our Joanne' god only knows who he think I'am when he thinks my daughter is me, but after losing Mum last June who was his carer he has taken to calling me by Mum's name which can be hard for me at times, I just answer him insytead of crrecting him when he does that. He gets no-one else muddled except me and I'm his only child! Once called toffee's 'Gum mouths' - he knew they went in his mouth and stuck to his gums so invented a new name for them!! If you don't laugh you cry - strokes are very cruel Joanne |
