weve just got back from mum and dads house. the cot sides didnt reach the top of the pressure mattress so hubby is modernising them lol. he isnt happy with just putting blocks of wood on the base so we can screw the sides to them,he has gone and bought some metal tubing and is using that. he says that it will look more posher lol. hes in the shed at the moment doing that so we will go and fit them as soon as hes finished. dad cooked a joint of gammon ,mashed potatoes and tinned tomatoes for mums tea. she ate every bit.dad was well impressed lol. the carers came in at 5.30 and adjusted mum in bed and they are coming back at 8.45 to give her another wash and freshen her up. mind you, while i was there from 6.30 till 7.45 i had to lift mum up the bed several times as she keep sliding down.she also slips towards her right side so i kept straightening her up. but we are determined to get her better and im sure that now she is home she will improve. thankyou all so much for your support love susie xx |

Well things sound just fine with you now. You sound a super family. You'll have to keep an eye on your Dad so that he doesn't overdo things, I bet. All the best and lots of hugs. Margaret |

Good to hear your mum is home with your dad - do hope he doesn't tire himself too much, tell them both to accept as much help as they can get and not to stand any nonsense re the carers if they don't come in on time, or do what they are expected to do. Your hubby sounds a gem, sorting out the cot sides so quickly, you take care too and don't make yourself ill again. Enjoy your times together again, I am sure your Mum will be a lot better now she is home. Liz |

Susie, you might like to try something to rest her feet against when she's sitting up/propped up, so her legs, even if they are weak , act as a brace, i guess the nurses would be able to advise, reasonable size chunk of foam or somethng against the footboard, to shorten the bed, as it were. Glad to hear she is home. dont let dad wear himself out. Jess x |
