As i said, if i can hypothetically hold the hand of one adoptee , as they take this sometimes awful, gut wrenching ride into their adoption journey, then the bitterness of just one other person doesnt matter - I've likened the whole experience as like a journey with no map or instructions - it scarey, but so much better to have someone to hold your hand, even if neither of you know the way, because there is no right way,Every adoption is different, every story different , and every outcome different. jess |

Hello Jess, really glad to read that you're staying. I was so disappointed to read your message yesterday about leaving; that meant that the bully had won. Right - now to the bully. You know who you are, so hear this - and think about it! I am an adoptive mother, and I told my daughter this morning about Jess' thread. She - 16 next week - reminded me of what hubby and I told her and her brother when they first came to us, nearly 7 years ago. It is this: adoptive children are CHOSEN - yes, CHOSEN - whereas birth children are not, of course. And yes, I'm a birth child. Now, are you a birth child? Because that means that your parents were stuck with you, whether they liked it or not. Food for thought, eh. P.S. All you decent, law-abiding and rule-abiding birth children on here, ignore my second-to-last sentence above, OK? This is only for the bully(s). |

Jess Welcome back! I am of the opinion that if people try to hurt others, its because they are hurting themselves, though this doesn't make it easier to cope with when you are at the receiving end. But I am glad you are back, I was beginning to think you'd gone the same way as those blinky Broad brothers!!! Adoption is a whole new issue of course, but family history is a bit like looking under stones, you are never quite sure WHAT you will find. nell |

Nice one Glenys - Anyone and everyone please see my posting on Tips at Hugs part 5 about Kate Adie's book, 'Nobody's Child'. If I knew how, I would patch it onto here too, but not good at playing with copying from one bit to another. Eileen |

Thank you, Eileen. It makes me so cross when some non-adopted folk somehow think they're better than adopted people (codswallop). Um, reading your last bit above, I took the liberty of copying and pasting your entry from Tips; hope you didn't mind. It is:- 'To all adoptees and anyone else who isn't and thinks they know all about it but haven't actually '.......got the T-shirt.....' Have just got 'Nobody's Child' by Kate Adie - apologies to all of you who have already read it, but if you haven't, get it and read it, its just amazing - only half way through so far. She fills in all the history and social detail from way back - I though I knew a lot (lol), but some of the stuff in this book is still a surprise. You hear bits of things, like the children on the orphan trains in America, but all the surrounding why's and wherefor's - well words fail me, just read it - .... then thank God on your knees fasting...............that it wasn't you Eileen' |
