Out of Work.--------as of friday June 30th

I work 40 hrs a week tuesday to saturday. I like it that way cos I get a long w/end by just taking one day holiday & it works well with the laundry pickups. Today the housekeeper annouced that she finds it hard to do the linen room on sundays & mondays so she is going to employ someone for saturdays & I will have to change my days off from sunday/ monday to saturday/ sunday. After all I've done for that ungrateful meadow lady she says, take it or leave it. Going to see the general manager on monday but if he agrees with her, I'll be leaving it. Thought I would be there till I retired, I'm gutted. Vivienne xx

if your contract says tue> sat , they cannot change it without your agreement. if it says 40 hours by arrangement ( or agreement ) then you are probably up the swanny!

Thanks Peeps Unfortunately Jess, like all hotel contracts, the company reserves the right to alter shifts & hours to suit themselves with reasonable notice. I'm just hoping that the ammount of extras I do to help them out may sway the general manager & the owners in my favour. I even went in for a couple of hours on thursday & friday last week when I was signed off to sort out the chef wear for her. Vivienne xx

Thanks for the good wishes people. Not sure what I will do but I don't intend staying on her terms. I think she thinks I will stay while I look for something else & then just get on with it. She did a bit of a double take when I said, remember you owe me time & with holiday, I'll not be staying for four weeks notice. She had turned on her heel after issuing the ultimatum just before leaving for the day & she stopped in her tracks for a second before carrying on. I know her quite well, her birthday is the day after mine, we are both Capricorn & stubborn old goats. She may well spend the next couple of days trying to find a way of backing down without losing face, then again she may not. Chrissie, sorry, I did look in on chat but I don't hang around if nobody there, maybe tomorrow as Maisie suggested. Well I'm off to bed now, sleep well & angels on your pillow as Jay would say. Hi Folks I'm back from my trip to Trago Mills. Only spent £20 but laughed so much all day with my coleague, on the way home, I was half way to Bridgwater before I realised I had missed J25. The General Manager said what I hoped he would say but I won't know the outcome till tomorrow. He said that as I had done so much for the hotel, with my permission, he would not accept my resignation until he had looked into it & tried to resolve the problem. Can't expect more than that, can I? Vivienne xx
