But no amount of in depth talks when they are in a good mood resolves thing's agree with what you say, cant explain why they are like it,and say they will try. Mine gets better for a bit after such talks but slips back again!! guess its an ongoing battle thing not to get browbeaten.

There seems to be common consent that men have their grumpy side. My husband does too. I think that partly a) men don't realise how grumpy/moany they seem and b) women are perhaps more sensitive to tone of voice etc. Usually I escape onto the computer or into a book, or go out. But sometimes I shout back. Trouble is, he usually has got it all out of his system after a moan and then accuses me of being moody!!! nell

wilde child. the only reason he has sworn 3 times is because i gave him his tea at the start of the game!! belly of pork strips with yellow rice. he has to pick the strips up and munch on the bones. peace and quiet is bliss!!

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 2 Jul 2006 04:06

Think it is something to do with testosterone levels going awry - my oh is the most miserable person around, he is never happy unless he has something to moan about, if he gets upset by someone at work (most days) he come home and takes it out on me, we can't watch a tv prog together cos he is screaming at the tv, even the news, he is so bigoted and convinced that anyone with a slightly foreign sounding name is an asylum seeker and therefore should be sent back from whence they came. In many instances, they are actually British born hardworking people whose families have been here for generations but that cuts no ice with him. Wish I could just gag him sometimes for the peace it would give me. Liz

Glenys the Menace!

Glenys the Menace! Report 2 Jul 2006 15:48

I have a stock reply for my family if they moan about something unimportant (nearly always the children). I just say 'that's nice, dear' and get on with what I'm doing. Hubby and I do that to eachother jokingly, too. Our two teenagers then realise that it's pointless moaning to myself or hubby. I hasten to add, it's only when it's something trivial that hubby or I say that! And we keep repeating it until they stop. Try it! x

Yes.... mine 72..... been a Victor Meldrew for years. 'Why are you doing that?... I just did it!' 'What..ya mean it tastes funny?' 'Are you getting up today? Day's half gone!!' 7.30-45 !! In his defence he is the kindest most considerate man, and would do anything for anyone... AND NEVER MIND or cast it up. Sorry girls but just like us... they get fed up... and take it out on nearest and dearest! I'm just luckier than most......... he hates football! Deanna X
