My son is a hugger too, but then I'm his mum so he never had a chance. (I've taught him that spiders are dreadful things too!!) LOL He hugs his dad and never sees it as odd. AND his dad loves it, although he himself was never a tactile person. His best friend is a girl... woman... and he hugs her. They have known eachother from childhood. A good hug is so nice. Think I'll go hug *mr man of the house!* Deanna X

Hugs and kisses are for family and close friends. I'm not generally a touchy, feely type of person and would feel uncomfortable hugging people I didn't really know. Kaye x

My Family always give big warm hugs when they meet each other, the men, women, young or old. When you've lived through happy and sad times in your life together, giving kisses on cheeks (or lips when acceptable) is very important, to show we love and care for each other. Wouldn't like it if we were 'stand offish'. Mau XX :0))

I am a very tactile person and would hug you if you came into my house..... but not if you were a complete stranger, unless you burst into tears!! That I could not stand away from!. Council workers, Electricity meter readers etc. would be VERY afraid if I greeted them like that! But I don't think 'stand offish' is fair! People are different, and may be shy! BUT... If you don't like a hug... then I wont hug you... no offence taken. ;-0) Deanna X

More reserved, I'm not the first to offer a kiss, unless to family when haven't seen them for a while, but don't like people to kiss me on lips, thats reserved for hubby only.!

I really like how a lot of the younger men hug when they greet each other. I think it is a trend but I like it. Maybe we are becoming more open with each other. Susan

Yes its really awful if you hug someone, and they stand there like a log of wood.......have learned to back off, and read body language more........our family including in-laws always hug and kiss each other. I have noticed it more in the younger ones......I don't know if it is a trend now.......

It really depends on how tiddly I am!!! I'm normally one to judge the situation.....and play safe with handshake etc but when I'm stotting about at 3am after girly night out then I JUST LOVE EVERYBODY AND THEY ALL NEED HUGS AND KISSES AND TOLD HOW MUCH I LOVE THEM ALL.........INCLUDING THE LOCAL BOBBY!!!! ~:-)))))) I have to also add that because my hubby is from one of the largest families in the area.....most tend to relatives-in-law and know what I'm like when I go out and have got used to me by now!!!! RDA.x.
