We've just had our coldest June for 50 years, and the today's been warm (10 degrees) with another snow blast from the Antarctic forecast tonight. Got the firewood stacked up at the door ready for the morning, and need to check there's gas in the BBQ in case we lose power. Not so likely here in the city, but some poor country folks not so far away stoill haven't got power back after last time, i think - or maybe only just - and that was about 3 weeks ago! Sue.

well it completely missed us. Shame Neighbours music was booming until at least 1am. I do so hope one of the other neighbours complains about it.

Oh Heather, don't wish for the storm in Norwich, it will knock all the flowers off my jasmine and bash all the other flowers that are looking so nice. Have just soaked every pot and tub a while ago, as I did last night, so a gentle rain would be fine, just to help with the water butts and freshen everything up. I hate all the insects that come in after the light, especially those silly moths that beat themselves daft against the bulbs, daddylonglegs, and midges and mosquitoes. I can remember being in Malta one year for a wedding, and I had my son aged 3 with me, visiting his father and family too. I put my lad to bed (one double bedded apartment) and later went to bed myself to read. Obviously had the light on and a window open, and completely forgot the mozzies. Next morning my son's little face and ears looked as tho someone had used a fine point red pen to dot him all round his ears and on his cheeks. Luckily he didn't itch or have any ill effects but had to keep telling people it wasn't anything catching, just mozzies. Was always careful after that, but I did feel so guilty.

Right thats it my windows are getting shut tight tonight - crickets, mozzies, whatever next??

Heather

Heather Report 2 Jul 2006 22:50

The other thing Ive noticed over about last 5 years - crickets. Id never heard them in this country before but now when I go out with the dog in the evening I can hear them, just like when you are on hols. Gawd, I dont want those huge wasps you get in hot countries - what are they called - hornets, thats it. They are twice the size of ours and very aggressive.

Oh no that's all we need, first the heat and now the Mozzies, can cope with it on Holiday but not when I have work to do, kids to see to and everthing else Will get the mozzie spray out right now Joanne

Heather Report 2 Jul 2006 22:44

I had a mozzy in the bedroom last night - I didnt think we got them in this country! It was making that high pitch noise that you hear them making at night in the Med countries. Drove me mad, kept thinking it was landing on me and so spent all night slapping my arms and face.

Hi Paul. Have to admit I didn't see the town today. A friend told me the air down there was full of irritating littl;e flies and as I'm starting some building work on the house tomorrow I spent the time getting ready. Weather wasn't really too bad as there was some wind. :-) Keith
