Urban Legend or not - that is certainly a thought provoking piece of prose. Thankyou Paul for sharing it .

thank you paul. as some have already said i hadnt seen this poem before and its beautiful. i dont care who wrote it or that it stems from myth. what i do care about is the sentiment behind such a thought provoking piece of work. once again paul thank you and u are not alone

Paul, Thanks for posting the poem. I for one don't care who wrote it -however thanks Meercat for the clarification. I lost my father to cancer, along with his brother and mother (my uncle and grandmother). I carry that poem in my wallet - a tremendous reminder that we're only here for some short time and maybe, just maybe, we shouldn't waste that time! So, in the grand scheme of things does it really matter where it came from? Whoever wrote it obviously felt huge emotion and the authors identity does not take away from the words or the sentiment. A lot has happened on here in the last couple of days, and I believe Paul that this was an extremely well intentioned post - and again I thank you. Perhaps the comments didn't need to be so curt - did come across as a bit 'nur nur' - and anyway does this mean everything that is said on here is vetted for originality or fact? Nice words!

Lovely poem Paul. I don't care where it's from either. The poem makes you stop and think a bit doesn't it? Thanks, Carol

Can I just say Paul, in Elaine's defence, to me it didn't sound as if she was trying to discredit you. It's a beautiful poem, but I wonder how young the girl was to have written this. Some people make stories up (as indeed others are true, sadly) to tear at the heartstrings - and they do. I've copied and pasted it, so thank you for posting it. :-) P.S. Sue, wonderful idea! We have a friend who leads a frantic life, mostly of her own doing, and who could really benefit from reading this. :-)
