Are you sure that wasn't from the 1850's? I was married in 1950 and I think my husband would have thought I'd gone bananas if I'd followed any of that 'advice'. Think I agree hat it must have been written by a man - and a not very knowledgeable one. Kathleen |

Doesn't actually tell you anything about sex, just to do what he wants. There was a bit in a playgroup mag once as a joke all about how a husband likes to come home to peace and quiet, so make sure the washing machine isn't on, you look tidy and relaxed, children are out of sight, dinner is ready etc. It's not just that you were expected to meet your husband's needs - clearly you weren't expected to have any of your own! There seem to still be dozens of manuals on how to keep your marriage happy etc all aimed at women. But the thing is, its women who instigate about 80% of divorces, so maybe its the men who should be reading these things? |

And look whats happened to society since the Sixties and germaine had her say- breakdown of the family unit- the battle of the sexes has failed society....someone has to be boss, and things worked efficiently before career aspirations compromised effective motherhood and positive nuturing........now children are encouraged to go to breakfast clubs, and stay behind school clubs, fed fast food, and videos ,all to accomodate two busy parents, rushing around,or just the one......it is no coincidence that the child in our society is becoming increasingly unhealthy and lacking in positive influential adult role models.......we have no time....we are too busy . |
