My married Surname is Keen and I don't like it - prefer my maiden name - and have just seen Louise Sharpe comment that she doesn't like her married surname of Sharpe either. It got me wondering how many of the rest of you don't like your married names - or even the one you were born with? Just being nosey lol Kaye x

Have always been Pennell-Shawcross ... and have always been VERY proud of it. Even if I ever marry, I would keep MY surname ! Elaine ;-)

I have to admit that my Maiden name wasn't anything special - James, but Kaye James has a better ring to it than Kaye Keen, the latter is such a mouthful. lol We did argue about it quite a bit when we were planning to get married as I wanted Hubby to change his Surname instead and become Daniel James, I was even willing to compromise and choose a completely different surname, but he wouldn't budge and I got lumbered with Keen. lol Louise - I think Pritchett-Sharpe sounds good, sounds Posh. lol Kaye x

Kaye - glad you did this - I kept wondering if the emails were from you pmsl Not over struck on my family name - but it's memorable - people never forget any contact so that has to be good lolol

Kaye, You could have kept your maiden name .. its still legal. You would just have been *known* as Mrs Kaye (Husbands surname) ... but your bank account etc stays in the maiden name etc. Its perfectly legal.... and quite a few people do it nowadays. Some also just have maiden name as well as married name and use double barrelled names. Children do NOT have to take Fathers surname any more either. You can give a child ANY name you want to now. Elaine ;-)

You mean I have been sending you emails all this time and you've only just clicked that they're from me? pmsl I decided it was too much hassle to change my email addy so it reflected my married name - that's why you got confused. Kaye x

Elaine - the problem is Keen and James just do not go together do they? Kaye Keen-James or Kaye James-Keen - sound stupid whichever way you put them. lol I did think about keeping my name, but to be honest part the reason we got married was because it was easier to share the same surname - got sick of people ringing up looking for Mr James or Mrs Keen, and having to say I'm Miss James but I'm Mr Keen's partner! lol If you ever get married you must make him take your name - it's too nice to change. I kept my maiden name when I married - just tacked Mrs on the front of it - didn't see any reason to take husband's name, especially as we knew we weren't going to have children. I don't mind people calling me by his surname (even if it is common as muck!)
