Hi Helen, I don't know if this will be of any help but if you are looking for rellies in Northern Ireland from around 1912 try the Ulster Covenant. It gives the townland where they came from and from there you can work out the registration districts, where they would have registered Births Marriages and Deaths or BMD's. I know 1881 census only costs 1 credit but if any of you have people to look for in 1881 let me know - I have the Scottish discs and there's a neighbour search as well.. I think I have most of mine placed now, and strangely I've found some names that def were NOT on the Scotland people site.. I'll get round to putting it on Tips or Records one day soon!

Hi Helen, I know what you mean, not only is it hard to find relatives but also expensive with Scotlands people. The informatiom on births marriages and deaths don't go up far enough back or ahead enough either. As for Irish rellies well you just can't find them because the census doesn't tell you where in Ireland they came from. All in all it's just one big pain in the b- -m. Betty

I've been on the go since 7am yesterday and back out at 6am ( less than 4 hours) only thing is I'm too tired to sleep! Angelica Thanks heaps, I am not usuallyon at this timeof nite during the week as I have to get up at 6:30 am but had a bit of a bad day today as I have just recently lost my father and it was he that got me started on the FH, I have found things that he did not know but I am sure he is aware of who they are now. Helen if it's Fh orientated then tips or records are usually your best bet. General is anything and every thing really lol. We're usually a good bunch who will point you in the right direction if you have posted on the wrong board.

When I first joined this site I asked a few questions regarding searches, I had obviousuly asking the wrong site as I was told very ubrubtley that it was a chat site and I should try somewhere else... To be honest it put me off. It has taken quite a few months for me to build up the courage to ask anything of anyone since then.. Thanks

Helen we're a friendly bunch really, if there's anything you need to know such as the abbreviations then just ask, someone will be willing to tell you.

Just get frustrated some times,have to pentout the release somewhere. I have been reading the threats on this site for sometime and just thought I would post one, althought it took a lot of courage. Still trying to work out some of the abreviations..... sometimes themind wanders. lol

if you ask on records they are great for searching scots ancestors have helped me a lot with my family. they can give you all the sites you can search ireland is a bit harder but you will be pointed in the right direction there as well they are really really helpfull. if you need anything just pm me and i will try to help as much as i can.
