Swiss Maid, Before my time, but I believe GR members bought the right to name a star for a fellow member who was very ill - have read threads about it. I believe Pink would know all about how to go about, or another long standing member? Perhaps a pm to Pink or another post asking for details? (Hope you don't mind me butting in) Jay |

Might not be possible in such a short period of time, but for my grandads 80th birthday we did a photo CD (one that plays in a DVD player) of his life with different songs on it - it was great and made him cry! (in a good way - not a bad way pmsl) |

Thanks Jay. You aren't butting in at all! I just had a helpful mail from Nana-Moo explaining about the star thing. Thanks, Tom. We're organising lots of their favourite music to be put on a CD to be played while we're having the buffet. We'll all be shedding tears in between the laughter. Hi Blossom. Fortunately everyone we've invited have said they can come so that is great! Only hope their best man and his wife can make it - they're not so well at the moment. One of our daughter's will probably oblige and do a video. I won't be in any fit state myself. I'll be too emotional I'm sure! Just hoping Mam and Dad stay as they are now and are able to enjoy it all. Thanks everybody for all your help. Margaret |

Just giving this thread a nudge. If no more comments are added over the weekend, I just want to let everyone know that I shall be deleting it. Many thanks again to all who have taken the time to read it and rack their brains. You've been a great help. All the best. Margaret |

When I saw the heading I thought along the line of food. Make some fudge (or whatever) and cut it in diamond shapes. Wrap it in cellophane. Alternatively some biscuits or slab cake cut in diamonds. There might be another relative who cant think what to give so they might like those ideas if you dont use them. |

maybe if your dad is well enough for a trip out, you could hire a white stretched limo to give them a tour around in luxury. Would probably have to be a different day to the party though. |

That's a good idea Barbara's daughter. I will pass this one on to the guests. They could record their different memories on a note and pop it in with their cards. It's little things like that, that mean a lot to my Mam and Dad. Thanks a lot. Thanks also for your wishes Maureen. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed from now on so that Mam and Dad stay as 'fit' as they are so they can enjoy their day. We can't organise anything too way out because they wouldn't really be up to it, but if things go as planned, I'm sure they'll just be so happy to see everyone who has accepted to come. Margaret |

Hi Penny, Just checked the Queen's telegram site out. It would have been a very nice surprise for them, but I need to send copy of wedding certificate and since I won't be going over to the UK until 15 August, there won't be enough time for that I'm afraid but thanks anyway. Our three grown up children will be coming over and Mam & Dad don't know, so that alone will make their day. I've had some good ideas given, and I'm really grateful to all those who have contributed. SM I think if I were you I'd still order one - I think you can still order one up to 3 months after. Even if it's late I think it's still a lovely unique present. |
