Guinevere Report 11 Aug 2006 11:56

Blair was asked ages ago about a state funeral for Thatcher and he said no. If he's asked a question he should surely answer it, He didn't just get up one morning and announce it out of the blue. State funerals are for heroes. Thatcher was no hero. Dreadful woman Gwynne

Conan Report 10 Aug 2006 23:16

It is not public knowledge, But it is rumoured in Whitehall that Mrs T is not too well, and, as with the problems with Tony Blair's daughter, the media have been asked not to mention it.

I thought that she had died too, when I read it,we must have been reading the same thing. But then on second thoughts realised that she hadnt,or else it would have been on the news 28 hours a day.

Debby Report 10 Aug 2006 23:11

Reigning monarchs have state funerals not ex prime ministers. The only reason Churchill had one was to honour his life as a great war leader. I don't see any reason why Margaret Thatcher should have a state funeral. She may be allowed a 'ceremonial' funeral though which isn't much different anyway. Debby
